I've never been accused of thinking all that hard about anything!

This all feels to me like a "lolol McD shipped off another QB circlejerk" than anyone legitimately believing that Carr is anything other than a completely average QB at best.

I think Carr is slightly better than Jimmy G; but neither are elite - and if I were a Raiders fan I'd be happier with Jimmy G for $24m/yr than Carr for $38m/yr.

It's really as simple as this. His contract was never going to allow the Raiders to put a competitive team around him, and I'd have been plenty happy to see him to continue to waste away there with a shit team around him. Seems like they are still going to put a shit team around Jimmy G, so I'm not sure why they wouldn't just go all the way into tank mode if they were just going to ship off parts anyway, but I'm not complaining.

Except I’ve been consistent with my respect for Carr, he’s completely average in your mind but oddly the NFL community (except ********* McDaniels) seems to disagree.

Exactly one team seriously tried to acquire him this offseason, and it's a team that has made nothing but poor decisions in recent years. I must have missed the rash of NFL teams fighting over this guy's services.

Apparently you missed it, he chose Saints over Jets and Panthers.

Ah yes, two other franchises that have really been hitting it out of the park with their personnel decisions!

Powerful argument, I’m just glad we can both agree that it wasn’t just the Saints trying to sign him.

I don't believe the Jets were legitimately trying to sign him. They are all in on Rodgers. I think they were just doing their due diligence as plan B in case Rodgers fell through before Carr became available.

Sure, but who's going to start the other 10 to 12 games?
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

I bet Josie Jewell fits the system.
