Eh, i'd rather look for the diamond in the rough Brock Purdy type and spend that money elsewhere. I'm not saying Stidham isn't an upgrade to Ryp, who I have complained about being rostered for a while, just that when you have a guru coach maybe take a flyer on a guy you like late every so often and see if they pan out for a position you hope never takes the field. Kind of the same thing as drafting at RB often rather than paying guys. It's a value proposition.

“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

Derek Wolfe used to block Powers every day in practice, and he has nothing but good things to say about him. Says he's really strong, super technically sound, and has great feet. Says he can handle both power and speed, has a fantastic work ethic, and should be a perfect fit for what Payton wants to do.

    Mike Klis@mikeklis·1m

Singleton's $6M per not bad for guy undrafted out of Montana State in 2015, out of work in 2016, played three years in CFL, got a chance w/Philly in 2019, then team's leading tackler in 2020, 2021 and Broncos in 2022. Singleton and Manhertz two great stories of want-to. #9sports

    Mike Klis@mikeklis·35m

Singleton made $1.1M last year so two 20-tackle games, 163 stops for season earned him a nice pay raise to $6 million per year. Singleton and Josey Jewell, who made $6M last year and $5M this year, give Broncos a formidable 1-2 inside linebacker punch. #9sports

    Mike Klis@mikeklis·1h

SES Sports Stellato on Manhertz: “This is testament to coach Payton's ability to know talent and value. Chris comes from humble beginnings. He is a grinder. He’s going to help those young guys and do everything he can to help win a Super Bowl for that loyal fan base.’’ #9sports

    Mike Klis@mikeklis·4h

*Griffith. Bailey, Griffith, Waitman all tendered at $940K salaries. #9sports

    Mike Klis@mikeklis 4h

Also as expected, none of Broncos' 4 restricted free agents (RFAs) were tendered per source: QB Brett Rypien, safety P.J. Locke; CB Essang Bassey, long snapper Jacob
    Bobenmoyer. #9sports

    Mike Klis@mikeklis· 6h

In midst of free-agent frenzy, a tip of cap to Dalton Risner. Wiggins native and 4-year starting left guard was huge in Broncos community and Darrent Williams Good Guy winner. He is moving on. Should be handsomely paid soon with another team. #9sports

    Troy Renck@TroyRenck·17m

This is where the Walton-Penner group matters. The #Broncos have guaranteed in excess of $95 million on contracts to McGlinchey ($50M), Powers ($28M), Singleton ($9M), Stidham ($5M) and Manhertz ($3.3M). Having cash flow helps as Broncos enjoy big first day of FA. #Denver7

Great day. Payton declared that we need to run the ball to help out Russ. So what does he do? Signs a couple of road graders to open holes. Love the signings today.

Weird how this guy thinks Jawaan Taylor was a better player than McGlinchey.

I get it, but the move is way more brutal than I expected and I'm ok with it on that basis.
