Default Do we as fans now embrace this new ownership? This big.

This basically shows that this ownership WANTS TO WIN NOW. That is what this means. Sean Payton made a really good play financially. Was patient until Penner and company got into a rather desperate situation and the Broncos were there.

They did it and that should be a GREAT SIGN FOR US FANS WHO ONLY CARE ABOUT WINNING.

I think we are good with them… as long as they do t think like LA (rams). They had a good run but are about to be in draft capitol and salary cap he’ll for a while.

Winning is very good, and the point of it all… but not at a cost of a few big wins followed by a long time of stink..( kinda like where we are now)

And that's the debate. Would you "sell your soul" for one title? Giants are an interesting example. Not that they sell their soul, but they have a ring every decade but totally suck otherwise. Would you prefer to be Minnesota who is perennially in the playoffs with no ring or the Rams who look to be screwed for a while but got a parade?

First priority is to beat the Chiefs, Raiders, and Chargers.

Posted this in the Payton thread but I think it's worth reposting here.

This speaks to our new ownership group IMHO. No matter how you slice it our ownership group is made up of winners. You can dislike their politics, their business practices etc. but there is no denying that the Penners/Waltons actively sought out accomplished individuals driven to win at whatever line of work they may be in. The race car driver, a black female conservative politician (basically a unicorn that must have faced battles I can't even imagine to get where when has gotten in life) another black female business savant in Melody Hobson.

I freaking love this ownership group.

Strong post. I said at the time of purchase that what I was most impressed about was the 3 minority owners they allowed into the ownership pool. They didn't need their money, it was strategic. These people are all accomplished individuals in their own right. They aren't there just to check off a diversity box. Sir Lewis Hamilton is a successful race driver, and is Knighted. Melody Hobson is an accomplished financier, and married to George Lucas. And as you said, besides being former Sec of State & Stanford Provost, Condi is an avid football fan, and can talk football strategy with most guys.

Also, Klis had a tweet not long ago that said it was the WPG that came to George Paton sometime in the summer and suggested a long term deal for Russ. Why is this important? Maybe why they didn't fire Paton is because they are the ones supposedly responsible for handcuffing him here before they ever saw him play. Whether that was wise or not, in hindsight, can be debated, but it shows a devotion to the star players that reflects their commitment to winning.

I think they knocked it out of the park with the hiring of Sean Payton, and if/when he proves Russ isn't washed, far from it, and we become relevant again, I think you would be able to say the Russ/Payton combo is a grand slam.

The field move at the end of last season respecting player safety was the big sign for me that these are good owners. Flying Hillman's teammates out to his funeral was a first class move as well. Improving the stadium this offseason is also huge. This ownership group seems to genuinely want to win everyone over and will open their pockets to do so.

Hard to argue with their results so far. They set out to land a big fish and got one. They'll ultimately be judged on the on-field product, but so far so good! I still think they slightly overpaid for Payton, but if he wins it was worth it.

I've never understood this expression, since clearly saying no comment is, in fact, making a comment...

It’s like “have your cake and eat it too” . . . like, of course I wanna eat my cake. Who would want to have a cake and not eat it? Cake is delicious, we all like cake.

I even like the band Cake, I have them on my iTunes and I wanna listen to them right now. Why have them on your music device and not listen to them? They’re an underrated band, I put everything on random and when they come up I’m bobbing my head. Of course I want Cake and listen to them too.

The bottom line is we don't get Payton without ownership, and they don't even try for a candidate like Payton without good ownership. Even since Bowlen's passing, we see what the committee/trust did with the team and the coaching and we have been in a pit of misery. The culture of the team goes from the top down and we are starting to see that happen.

My big hope now is that Payton gets the offense and Russ back on track as we stabilize things for the first times since Kubiak left and I believe that is exactly what he will do. Between this and driving by the stadium the other day and seeing a GINORMOUS new screen being added to the stadium I believe we have finally entered a new golden age of Broncos Football.

Am I full of hopium and copium? No. Just caffeine and whatever IPA is still in my system from last night.

    UNREALISTIC HYPE BEGINS NOW
