    Default Criminally overlooked albums

I found a list made by music nerds about the 60 most overlooked albums of all time. I figure just about every album is an overlooked album since that's the default state of an album. So this is ballsy to claim to know the answer to this prompt.

Can anyone vouch for any of these? Outside of De La Soul is Dead.

Thanks. I keep hearing that TVZ is about as good as it gets but I've only listened superficially.

    Is that particular album good?

Haven't heard a lot of those, even though I recognize lots of the names. That Madness Keep Moving album sounds like every other Madness album from what I remember. I got into them after rediscovering The Young Ones back in the 90's and found most of their stuff on Limewire.

That Everly Brothers one is one of the records I snagged from my dad's collection and its pretty legit! Good mix of folk and country in that unique late 60's style. I'll try and snag a picture of the record later. Try not to drink a beer after a long day after hearing THIS song:

Thanks for making me feel old! Another one that's underrepresented is the Hollies from the same vein/era:

Yes. That one is a little more deep cut type stuff I'm not as familiar with.

My favorites are: to Live is to Fly, Lungs, and Pancho and Lefty. A lot of people don't know he wrote Pancho and Lefty. He also covered Dead Flowers for The Big Lebowski. That is a song written by the Rolling Stones. Not exactly sure if he did that just for the movie, I know he passed away right around the time that film was released.

He was a freaky genius songwriter. Kinda like a more country version of Bob Dylan.

I feel like "overlooked" means something different to each artist. Like the Springsteen album is maybe "overlooked" when compared to Born in the USA or something...but it's ranked 91 on the RS best albums of all time list. So is it really overlooked?

Then you have My Bloody Valentine, which perhaps in terms of mainstream popularity isn't a household name. But Loveless is 73rd on the RS list of best albums of all time, and it is pretty universally critically acclaimed and regarded as one of the greatest and most influential albums in the history of music.

Plus being an overlooked album doesn't mean it's necessarily a good album, or better than that artist's other albums. Most of the albums on that list I have never heard of, and I bet they're okay albums, but I don't buy that they are all masterpieces.

The above albums are good though. I would say The Zombies are an actually overlooked band in general compared to the other brit invasion bands. They've got some bangers.

I don't think that Townes Van Zandt album is better than most Townes Van Zandt albums though, that's a weird choice for #1. TVZ slaps though, Live at the Old Quarter is one of the goat albums. He is an overlooked artist for sure.

The only live album I actually like, but I highly recommend spending an evening chilling with this album if you want to get into his music. It's got a very low-key vibe, feels like you're listening to a random guy on open mic night at some dive bar...except the random guy is legit. His studio albums are good too, but I feel like this is the best way to listen to TVZ.

This is not the same album as the one mentioned, but I have coincidentally been listening to this song a lot the last few days.

My buddy's band in Redding does a cover of Time of the Season...great song. Go see them if you are ever in town.

I played Time of the Season on Spotify and now a bunch of Zombies songs have played, and they all kick serious ass. Even the quiet tender ones. This is a band! Love the organ and keys. I need to listen to more of this.
