And here I thought all this time slim believed in capitalism and people getting paid their market value for their work. Guess I was wrong.

LOL…there are no teams beating down the door to trade for him. I guess maybe you don’t understand the definition of market value.

I was making a broader point about NFL contracts in general in the post you replied to, not just talking about Lamar.

But apparently I'm just a silly entitled millennial for thinking people should try to make as much money as they can for the work they do!

Lamar is a far better and more accomplished QB than Watson who got a fully guaranteed deal. Has nothing to do with his "wants and feels". Has to do with the precedent literally set by the market. Unfortunately for him the owners are butthurt about the browns setting that precedent and are now colluding to stop it from happening again.

Good grief. So Hasslam makes an asinine deal and now everyone else must follow suit?

Said slightly differently, the dumbest CEO in the room makes a boneheaded deal, and now all the other CEOs are required to follow his lead?

How does that make any sense?

Like maybe you want all CEOs to follow Keneth Lay’s example?

Or maybe all future Presidents should sit still while a riot ensues during the transition?

Or maybe the US should sit out the war while Hitler dominates Europe?

If star QBs were willing to not play over it, then yes, they would have to choose between following the browns lead and not having a QB.

Star QBs have already done this!! Maybe you forgot, but there have been a few high profile QB contacts signed since Hasslam showed his ass.

Like I said to a coworker today, if McDonald's starts paying their employees $50 per hour, does that mean Burger King has to follow suit?

Such a nonsensical comparison to how the NFL works it's not even worth entertaining this. No front line worker at McDonald's has a rare, world class skillet that brings in billions of dollars of revenue for their employer. Comparing your everyday job to how things work in a pro sport is almost always a really bad comparison.

No NFL player brings in a billion dollars of revenue

Your arguments are meritless and intellectually insulting.

Ultimately, the folks writing the checks set the market. That is a universal truth. Is it fair? IDK, that is debatable. But folks like you and Jaded trying to make it about race...that is absurd. As I posted earlier, the best paid QBs in the league are almost all black (4 out of the top 5).

Attempting to equate racism with Lamar Jackson's situation is asinine. If you want to question why Lamar isn't being paid like a top 5 QB, the answer is simple....he doesn't have an agent. That fool decided to represent himself, so he could save a few bucks.

Bottom line, Lamar is a dumb shit, but that has nothing to do with race.

Your entire premise is that if one company in an industry pays their employees a certain amount, then all employees that work for any company in that industry can hold their employers hostage for wages that no other company wants to pay.
