You only compare the line to lines you like/think are good or better. I can’t remember how you phrased it. You have to compare them to entire league.

College ball killed offensive lines. It’s one of the few times where back in the old days they were actually better

Yeah I remember responding to the notion that OL play is down the league over.

I’m not sure why overall shit OL play is an excuse for any team considering there are literally teams that don’t suffer from that trend.

The Broncos OL is a dirt whore. Comparing them to the entire league is like grading on a curve.

If it’s harder to field a dominant OL in today’s NFL then you need to try harder, step ya game up.

The lines today wouldn’t be as good back in the day. Why do you think Bolles and Cam Robinson were viewed as top tackles? Those dudes would be second or third rounders back in the day.

You complain that stats are a bad way to compare, but now we can’t compare lines to other lines on the nfl? You couldn’t even say a line is good with that logic.

I didn’t say you can’t compare lines in the NFL, in fact, compared to the other lines in the NFL I expect an even higher ranking.

In essence, I’m comparing lines to the top lines in history, or more specifically to lines to when there was better overall line play . . .not just season to season.

You rightfully say line play is down league-wide, I say that means you have to put even more effort into building an OL.

I say if the line play is down that much and lineman cost so much money you're better picking and choosing the positions and not going all in on a line. I have watched Cleveland, Dallas, Ten, the Colts, etc. dump too many resources into the line and hurt the overall roster construction. If you need to pull a Chiefs and fix the center of your line, do it. If your tackles are trash, fix them. But trying to build some old school five all-pro line doesn't work. The all-pros aren't as good today as in yesteryear, with some notable exceptions. Moreover, one time you did tell me you wouldn't compare Denver's line to other bad lines in the league, but you might have been styling. If you were styling, I apologize.

I compare contemporaries to contemporaries. It's why I'm not as hard on Bolles as some are. Sadly, he's a guy who is in the top half of LT's. FFS, good LTs these days get tennish holds a season. That's ass. It didn't used to be like this, but it is.

    I understand what you’re saying . . . that’s the difference.

I mean sometimes you literally post something and then disagree with it and forget that you did it.

Part of it is that you're an oaf who writes unclearly. Other times it's because you're just a bad person and deserve nothing but bread and water.

    It's complicated.

    We'll always have Munchak, babe.

Dre'mont and Alex Singleton. Literally the only dudes on that entire list who matter, at all. There are a few who could, and maybe should be brought back as cheap, experienced depth (Murray, Fleming, maybe Williams, Saubert, Beck), but they are all eminently replaceable. True JAGs. Warm bodies. Orlando Brown and Mike McGlinchey should be our top targets in FA.
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”
