    Default Nathaniel Hackett Fired

    Hackett is gone.

The Broncos' new ownership -- the Walton-Penner Group, led by Walmart heir Rob Walton, his daughter Carrie Walton Penner and son-in-law Greg Penner -- quickly ran out of patience for a team with one of the league's best defenses with an offense that simply could not score.

    Bye, Felicia.
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

Paton stays, Hackett is gone. Better find somebody who can get more out of whatever is left in Russell's tank though.

There was literally no reason to let him finish the season.

Yeah, it was really obvious that whole team quit on him yesterday. Before last week it at least seemed like the team was mostly trying. Yesterday they were not.

Yep. If you can keep the locker room together you can finish the year. If they're tearing each other apart, which happened yesterday multiple times, you gotta go. If you can't be a leader be a coach. Not a coach? Be a caretaker. Can't do any of that? ****.

Who is the interim? I would give it to Kubiak and see if he has the chops, personally.

Evero, because Kubes has nepotism working for him and Evero could use a couple games to raise his profile. Much harder for for Black coaches to get shots to coach teams, and IMO he deserves all the kudos he can get for keeping Denver's defense together for as long as he did. Hoping he gets out of this with his rep intact and the next friend that gets him a coaching job doesn't push him into a burning dumpster fire like this.

I'm curious to see if he's a legit candidate to get the full-time job here. Personally, I'd take him all day over the Dan Quinn's of the world.
