Brian Wilson was Steely Dan before Steely Dan, and all their pretentious wonky Naked Lunch bullshit aside, was Steely Dan.

And this really gets to the heart of it.

If the Beatles were the greatest, and it seems incontrovertible that this was a Brian Wilson vs. John/Paul clash...

If The Beach Boys were the whetstone The Beatles (and all of the London music production scene) honed themselves against...because nothing else in the freaking world pushed them to evolve...when they were at their most plastic and evolutionary stage...without which they would have been just another band like The Eagles...

If all this is true, then must it also be true that The Beach Boys were really the greatest?
    You raise a good point.

As great as Pet Sounds is, unfortunately it seems the Beach Boys never really reached their full potential due to band conflicts and Brian Wilson losing his mind a little. What could have been!

Great band. I learned that their dad was an overbearing tyrant.

    Poor guys.

The music is great. It's a shame they imploded at their peak

The greatest American band doesn't implode in the face of Brits.

    Unacceptable.

    Super enjoy their work tho!

    Quality. ^ <3

It's a shame Wilson burnt out...

And it's kinda tough to give them the nod as greatest band considering how much Brian leaned into studio musician ringers like Hal Blaine.

He/they wrote some of the absolute best songs, and few if any ever matched their vocal harmony.

I've always loved their music. I listen to them regularly.

They have some unknown songs and some popular hits. A few of my favorites of theirs:

    Somewhere near Japan
    Wipe out ft. Run dmc
    Dance
    Make it big

I like them like I like the cars. Many of their songs are extremely relatable. They're about chasing girls, cars/motorcycles, partying, having fun, heartbreak, and then starting that cycle over again.
    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell

Brian Wilson was on par with Lennon/McCartney for sure.
