Default DC Ejiro Evero Rumored to be Broncos' 'Potential' HC Candidate

The Denver Broncos' successor to head coach Nathaniel Hackett could already be in the Mile High City.

Barring a miraculous turnaround, most NFL insiders forecast another head-coaching search for the Denver Broncos come January. The Nathaniel Hackett hire, in tandem with the selling of the farm for, and subsequent regression of, Russell Wilson has been a colossal swing and a miss for an organization that badly needed to end its head-coaching carousel.*

With the Broncos at 3-7, insiders the league over have circled the team as one of the most likely head-coaching vacancies to come in the not-too-distant future. If Hackett turns out to be a one-and-done head coach, the Broncos' new ownership — the Walton/Penner group — will have plenty of options, and capital, to throw at a potential replacement.*

Names like Dallas defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and the still-retired former New Orleans head coach Sean Payton are the two most common names uttered around league circles when it comes to the 2023 hiring cycle. The Broncos came close to hiring Quinn back in January, as he, Hackett, and Kevin O'Connell were reportedly GM George Paton's trio of finalists for the head coach job.*

He’ll be the obligatory Rooney Rule token interview.

I don't want Eviro as HC. Our Offense continues to be a dumpster fire. Promoting a hot shot DC will only hurt the D and not solve the problems on Offense. Aside from the fact we really need a HC that knows what the hell he is doing from day 1.

Not crazy about another 1st year guy. We tried that, and three strikes we’re out. Give him a raise, and keep him at DC.

If they leave him where he is, he'll be gone in the offseason when he gets hired by another team as their HC.

I’m willing to live with that.

When another team makes Evero their HC the Broncos get a 3rd round comp pick.

Evero is a victim of Hackett's incompetence as much as anyone. If not for injuries and stupidity, this started off as the best defense here since 2015. You can't expect a defense to have to pitch nearly perfect games every week to win, but somehow this awful team has multiple wins. That is a credit to Evero.

Because hiring someone with one year of coordinating experience worked so well last time!

It's probably going to be Quinn and hopefully Frank Reich as OC.

Evero with Frank Reich as OC, you say? Cool, done!
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”
