Broncos fans still think Phillip Lindsay is supposed to be Rod Smith v2.0, it’s . . . over.

Imagine Rod Smith being as arrogant as Lindsay?

The fans never gave MGIII a fair chance since day 1 bc they were bitter about Lindsay getting replaced. In that sense, I feel bad for ol' Melvin's bumblin' fumblin' ass

Matt McChesney was on radio today bitching about MG3 getting a roster spot over Max Borghi … this is the kind of shit that makes me hate humans.

Default Melvin Gordon sounds off on why Broncos cut him – and it’s not the fumbles

The Denver Broncos sent shockwaves throughout the NFL after they announced their decision to cut veteran running back Melvin Gordon from the squad. It wasn’t a very shocking decision considering how Gordon’s season has turned out, but the move still raised more than a few eyebrows.

For his part, Gordon admits that he still isn’t completely aware of the exact reason that led to his Broncos exit. The 29-year-old has received some heavy criticism because of all the fumbles he’s had this year, but he’s also adamant that this wasn’t the root cause:

“No, that wasn’t even mentioned,” Gordon told Mike Klis of 9News. “It was crazy when I’d seen that. Because [G.M.] George [Paton], when I talked to me, he didn’t mention anything about that. He knew what type of environment it was for me. He knew how I felt toward my situation there and he told me about the fan base and how it’s been tough for me and said he didn’t want to put me through this anymore and with our situation it was probably best.

“He told me I had a lot of football left and he would vouch for me. There’s really no point in keeping me around with the circumstances anymore and he just want me to go out and get my joy back.”

you misunderstand me. We failed him after his rookie year he was shit as a result and its why he can't keep a job you don't need small RB's to run inside for 2 yds lol and its why he is unemployed lol. He was never developed into anything.

I don't think either guy had a poor attitude. Neither player gave me reason to believe that they weren't both team first guys. Media noise is one thing, but on the actual field and in the locker room I don't recall reading or seeing anything negative. Melvin's problem was that he couldn't hang onto the football, and Lindsay's problems were that he isn't that great in pass protection or as a receiver. Neither player ever quit on the team or demonstrated any kind of arrogant attitude.

Lindsay as a pure runner was a solid player for this franchise.
Melvin Gordon as a pass blocker was a solid player for this franchise.
Unfortunately, the position of running back requires being good in pass protection, being able to run, being able to cut, being able to outrun defenders, being able to catch, and most importantly above everything else... being able to hold onto the football.

I would take Lindsay back, but in a passing league he just won't see the field every down because QB safety is way too important to put someone out there that is a liability in protection. Until Lindsay improves that part of his game, which actually could still happen, he won't be a starter again in this league.

I could care less about Lindsay but Gordon was still trash and i hated picking him up from the get go because i knew he had fumble issues which only proved me right.

Wait, you're saying he was shit after he left Denver because of how Denver's coaches used him? Because a RB being misused for one season damages his whole career beyond repair? I'm sorry, but what?

Running backs barely need development. It's pretty much the easiest position to transition from college to the pros. You just hand them the ball and they run. It's why you see so many rookie RBs succeed every year. Lindsay didn't suck on 3 other teams because the broncos didn't "develop" him. That's absurd.

I still remember Mo breaking down how Lindsay was most effective running between the tackles. Which is why a lot of people wanted Denver to get another back, and some folks disliked that.

There are a lot of moving bits in the saga. I think it's fair to conclude that a lot of folks overrated Lindsay and loved him because of his story. MG was a fumble machine and was a pricey player. MG pooped the bed a lot. Lindsay failed after he left. I don't think either are consequential players in the NFL any longer and were probably both overrated from the start.

Default Melvin Gordon makes bold claim about Broncos coaching staff

The Denver Broncos made an eye-opening decision on Monday to release veteran running back Melvin Gordon after three seasons with the organization. He opened up about the situation on Wednesday and got brutally honest about his relationship with the Broncos coaching staff.

Gordon took part in an interview with Mike Klis of 9News in Denver, where he revealed that he believes that he was a “scapegoat” for Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett and the rest of the Broncos coaching staff.

“There were times I felt like I was a scapegoat,” said Gordon. But respectably speaking, I hope I did save them some time. Because Hack’s [Nathaniel Hackett] a good dude. That staff, they’re great dudes. They just weren’t great for me. But I respect those guys. It was hard there for me. But I respect that organization. They gave me a chance to keep playing my dream.”
