Then we listen to it. We all admit it is on the level of the finest albums we've ever heard, but we never knew about it.

Yeah, it should I think. I'm not saying Journey's 1st album is all that.
But it's really damned good.
Let me put it this way. If you were told to go listen to, e.g., a fictional Tears For Fears forgotten first jam band type album. Then you listen. And you are super impressed.
Tears for Fears goes up a notch, right? It has to.
Early Journey is (maybe?) best Journey.
It's a band playing like a band is supposed to play.
