It probably started with trading for the wrong QB as a solution without doing your due diligence. Given how quickly Denver traded for Russ, they might have panicked when they lost out on Rodgers. Hard to give them the benefit of the doubt right now.

What “due diligence“? Revisionist History aside.

That trade was a slam dunk/no-brainer. The mistake was passing on an elite QB prospect 10 months earlier, and that’s not hindsight analysis.

Given how little you gave up for Russ, which is what made it appear as a slam dunk/no-brainer, maybe you just got taken advantage of? I agree on passing over Fields. Z. Wilson and Jones are already busts/never could be good in the first place and Fields has life on a team with the worst overall weapons and worst line in the game.

Or maybe the trade made perfect sense from every angle.

Probably not? Everyone was feeling like, at least around here, that Denver gave up a bunch of scrubadubs and a smattering of picks for a franchise QB. I think that's the difference. Maybe the issue was giving him that massive and long of a deal. All I know is that GMs are judged on results only. Seems that the logic and good business practices are no longer how we view them. Paton got booty-holed.

Russ is as big of a problem as Hackett. Even if he gets better, he's never going to be elite again and that contract will crush the team. )=

How do you know Wilson will never be elite again? Is there a stat for that?

He is physically declining, not a leader of men, and his play is so bad that it's the obvious bet. Maybe he can play his way to a top tenish performance, but his top five days are done. It's about odds.

This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

They can’t stay on the field. If your not available all the time you become useless……if you all want to claim WR 2 and 3 on hypothetical and unrealized so called potential cause they are open so be it. Wasted draft picks at this point regardless.
