March 5th is when teams have to designate their Franchise Tags or Transition Players.

March 13th is the first day of the NFL 2024 calendar.

No. They could even have Russ on the roster all next season. My understanding there is no deadline, but there is risk. If Russ gets injured, the franchise is on the hook for 2025 as well as 2024.

I have read if they cut him he will be a post June 1 designation anyways, to defer some of the pain

That's only true if you don't care about how big of a cap hit you take because when someone effects how big of a hit you take. The formula they use is so confusing that I can't make sense of it, but I believe that you take a bigger hit if you cut them too soon, as well as if you cut them too late. Then again, I could be totally wrong about this.

No way they are going to keep Russ after all of that noise. He’s done in Denver.

Why?? Just get it over with. This year is gonna suck regardless, just own it. Aside from protecting the dream of the 9-8 season, it makes zero sense to stretch the pain out any further.
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

As I said in my last post, what date you cut him on greatly impacts how much of a cap hit you take, or if you can break up that hit over multiple seasons (which I actually forgot to mention in my previous post). June 1st sounds about right for being the "magic day" for us to soften the cap hit of us cutting him as much as possible.

The only veteran QB I can remember coming back after being benched was Orton after he was benched for Tebow the 1st time. Having the new HC give him back the starting position after the previous HC had deactivated for the last 3 weeks of the previous season didn’t really work out that well for anyone.

I could see them keeping Russ since we’re paying that salary either way. I wouldn’t be shocked to see us keep Russ, draft Bo Nix and/or Spencer Pratt and use Russ as a bridge.

I also wouldn’t be surprised to see us move up and take Jayden Daniels

In short: I’m not going to be surprised. We’re going to address QB, how…. I don’t know, but the only thing that’ll surprise me is if we don’t address it

Another possibility is we trade Russ while agreeing to absorb part of his contract. I just don’t see Payton wanting Russ running the offense for another year.

Russ has created more drama for the Broncos than success. I just want him gone.

    He didn’t create that drama.

Just rip the band-aid off, grip it and rip it. Like a golf swing.

Broncos should sign Drew Lock, Paxton Lynch and Joe Flacco.

Are you drunk? I’m watching the same shitshow going on in Denver. It starts with Russell Wilson.
