- John Elway“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”
Question I heard on a podcast today that feels impossible to answer right now:
Who is the best QB from last year's first round class? Lawrence, Lance, Wilson, Fields, or Jones? It's still early obviously, but this is feeling like a big time flop of a QB class.
I feel like the answer right now is Fields? And he's a terrible passer, but he can at least make things happen on the ground. Lawrence probably still has the highest ceiling, but he hasn't really shown it yet. Even though Russ hasn't quite been what we'd hoped for yet, I'm still not sad we punted on QB in that draft and instead got a Hall of Fame talent in PS2.
Step on a nail, or poop your pants? Right now, none of those QBs is on pace to get a second contract from the team that drafted them, and that's really all that matters.

Draft
1st round— Shemar Stewart 5-T (Best talent in the draft)
2nd round— Shavon Revel CB (1st round prospect before knee injury)
3rd round— Savion Williams WR
4th round— Charles Grant LT
6th round— Vernon Broughton 3-T
6th round— Tyler Shough QB
6th round— Dont’e Thornton WR
Now compare his line, his weapons, his coaches, etc.
In year two, halfway through the season, the team is FINALLY scheming to the same strengths we've seen pay off in Hurts, Jackson, etc. Tebow had DT and Decker. Field's most talented weapon was Allen Robinson and Claypool. Claypool is a nice talent but literally just got to the team. They've been asking Fields to carry a burden (all those factors) that Rodgers and Brady have struggled to carry this year.
