I truly just hope we wake up and put rypien on the practice squad and Johnson on the actual roster because I believe Johnson will be snatched up the second somebody gets an injured starter, while nobody would pick up rypien because he really sucks when on the field. S

Denver signed 2018 fifth-round pick Darius Phillips, the team announced Thursday.
The Broncos waived cornerback Essang Bassey in a corresponding move.
Phillips spent the first four years of his career in Cincinnati, where he appeared in 47 games and started 10 contests. He recorded five career interceptions, 23 passes defensed, three forced fumbles and 73 tackles.

- John Elway“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”
Assuming Bassey goes to the PS tomorrow, then if I counted right, there should be one more PS spot left to fill. I’m hoping they are looking for a solid vet that they can plug into a position of need such as ILB, or whatever, and provide the depth that is badly needed.
They can then cut someone like Strnad and send him to that last PS spot.
I still don't get why that Punter wouldn't accept a pay cut? Unless he is really sure about himself finding a new job somewhere else
https://www.yahoo.com/video/broncos-...150020661.htmlThe Denver Broncos had two players competing at punter this summer: Sam Martin (a veteran, expensive option) and Corliss Waitman (a younger, cheaper option).
The Broncos ultimately chose the left-footed Waitman over the right-footed Martin. When the team cut Martin on Tuesday, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the move was made after Martin indicated he would not take a pay cut.
During his post-cuts press conference on Tuesday, general manager George Paton said the decision was not money-motivated.
“It had nothing to do with it,” Paton said. “We picked the best punter for us, Corliss. The punter with the most upside, biggest leg, and money had nothing to do with it.”
Paton said he wished Martin nothing but the best, but Waitman’s powerful left foot was a better option. Paton was impressed with Waitman’s hangtime and direction punting this summer, and his left-footed kicks could give some returners trouble given that most teams have right-footed punters.
Whether the decision was money-motivated or not, the Broncos did save $2.25 million in salary cap space when they cut Martin.
