    Default Laptop recommendations

I am in the market for a new laptop to use for work and such while traveling. I want it to be light, easily portable, and have a good battery life. I do not want to spend a million dollars.

What laptop do you use? Do people still use laptops these days?

I use an ASUS VivoBook. It's built with an AMD platform. I love it. They are the company I plan on building a desktop with...if it ever happens. If you like Intel they have those too.

The laptop I am looking at is the ASUS Zenbook. I saw the Vivobook is cheaper though. How is the battery life?

I use it plugged in almost always. I can't really speak for that. It was advertised like 8 hours but I wonder. My son in law uses an ASUS also. I will ask him. He's in IT. So was I amongst other things that took away from flying.

I've personally moved on to Lenovo for both work and home, but my previous work and home laptops were Zenbooks, and I have a Vivobook in my RV.

My main preference for Lenovo is their updating software, Lenovo Vantage, is better than I've seen on other laptops for auto updating bios, drivers, etc. However, if I didn't have Lenovos, I would have Asus. I consider them the best two options out there.

Everyone else at work as Dells, which is what we are standardized on, but I'm not a fan, so I go a different direction.

Asked my son in law. He says he get's 8 to 10 hours on his. I haven't had any issues with MyASUS which is there updating software.

I still like my laptop. I have a Lenovo, seemed to be the best combination of quality/value at Costco and I like it better than the HP I had previously. No complaints.

They might have improved it. Between work, personal and wife,I think I had 5 zenbooks and two vivo books, over course of about 8 years, give or take, and I found very few driver\firmware updates, and don't recall any bios updates. But, I switched back to Lenovo about 4 years ago, so they might have improved things.

I honestly don't think it really matters. Most all laptops are well equipped and operate pretty good. I'd simply look for the best deal. We've used HP, Lenovo and Dell. There's barely a difference between any of them, unless you're a power user.

I have a Mac book pro that I've had since 2010. I upgraded the Ram and put an SSD in it and it still works awesome. Mac's are a bigger investment upfront but they last a lot longer. I also had to put a new screen in it because one of the kiddos sat on it

Come to think of it it might be the most expensive 2010 MacBook in history.

I bought a laptop with a powerful graphics card because that's my gaming console. I think it's an ASUS.

Get the warranty. It's been a great investment.

    https://www.newegg.com/

NewEgg is a very good online store. They can customize what you want.

    https://discountelectronics.com/

Discount Electronics is an excellent store for refurbished Windows-based PCs.

When I moved out of the U.S., I knew a laptop would be much lighter than a desktop, so I bought a Dell Latitude E-6510 from Discount Electronics and loaded it with the most RAM and hard drive space it could hold. Transfered everything from the desktop to the laptop, scanned a ton of documents and family photos and headed out with still about half free space available on the hard drive. I back up regularly on external hard drive and use two anti-viruses, a firewall and a VPN. The original set up was around $450. Served me well for three years so far. Good luck with it.
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.
