Agree… why should the QB get credit for a 3 yard dump pass that goes to the house…. The problem is then…how do you measure the YAC? Do you add that as another stat? WR get yards catching, and YAC?

I would guess you could stop the yardage for the QB at when the receiver catches the ball. Everything after that goes to the WR. That would certainly change the dynamic and outlook of how many passes are deep vs short routes. I bet we would be quite surprised by how many big time QB's actually connect on long downfield throws vs short routes that end up going for long plays.

The dude that posted that said "So now Tom Brady has 312 total yards now in the record books."

    LOL

Truthfully he was the first guy i was thinking about. It doesnt make me think less of him and even though he was able to connect on long passes it was really the short routes that he and the offensive scheme were able to execute using short routes with guys like Welker, etc. Even late in Jerry Rice's career there were passes i could remember him taking from like 5-10 yds and sprinting 80 yds for a TD. Its certainly something to ponder because i think many people when they think of the alltime greats feel like all of the yds are long bombs to the WR's when i reality its probably more of short to medium routes.

I would really have to go back and dig into it but Marino was probably one of the few i could remember who used to air it out long a lot of times to Duper and Clayton. I think even Culpepper had a majority of his stuff going to Moss early in Randy's career. Certainly a good topic that should be explored more.

Yeah - the thing that makes me hesitate is the QB has to get the ball to the guy that is open, and can then make those YAC.

I think there's a site that tracks "air yards" or however they phrase it.

One of these stat websites should chart this or at least study it.

There’s something to be said for QB’s like Burrow that are so accurate that their receivers get a ton of YAC but also aren’t check-down artists.

As opposed to Teddy Bedweter who’s check-down RB seems to be the 1st read every play.

    Draft
    1st round— Cooper Dejean CB
    2nd round— Jack Sawyer OLB
    3rd round— Will Shipley RB
    4th round— Ricky Pearsall WR
    5th round— Ladd McKonkey WR
    6th round— Cash Jones RB
    7th round— Carson Steele RB

You don't compare to that beloved and splendid man.

You are the toilet paper clinging to the back of a shoe. The loud fart at the truckstop.

But we still love you, though.
