    Default Trade Back?

    https://www.si.com/fantasy/2022/02/1...und-team-needs

If we were to trade back, who would you want to trade with and why? Is there a preferred player whose value isn't at 9? Would you just want to compile picks? If so, future or 2022 picks?

This is a rough year to strategically drop back for futurepicks. Philly's 3 picks could hurt us. I wouldn't want to trade back too far, yet I'd still want a good return. Thus, our trade partner would preferably be a team who is likely to struggle next year. Philly and Washington are really the only 2 teams who could get us a good pick in 2023, but Washington is too close and Philly doesn't need picks. Miami is too far back for my tastes. Philly only helps us if they want to deal 2 #1s this year to move up. But they have a chance to improve quite a bit and that would be counterproductive.

If Pickett fell in yhe draft would you better about selecting him?

I will support the drafting of a QB regardless of where we take one. It means we are at least trying and likely moving on from Lock. If we were to acquire more capital and still draft him, I may actually be excited. Unfortunately, I think if we trade back, someone wants a QB with our pick. Could be wrong, but QBs make folks irrational.

I'd consider a trade down with Philly where we received two of #15, #16 or #19 in return for our #9 and 2nd rounder (#40). That would be a 2-for-2 swap. We would still have picks #64 (from Rams), #75, and #96 (from Rams) on the second night. The Eagles might do it if they see someone fall to us that they covet, particularly if they think Washington (at #11) also want him badly.
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.

With so many elite defenders and tackles to be had at pick 9 there’s noway I’d trade back.

A case could certainly be made for trading out to get high picks for next year in what is widely considered to be a much better QB draft. But, I’m sure neither Paton nor Hackett have an appetite for punting this year away.

Trading back 6 spots and gaining more picks this year and next isn't necessarily punting

My comment wasn’t referring to trading back 6 spots this year. Read what I said again.

If there's not somebody that you're in love with at 9:00 then trade back. I mean I was upset that we didn't take the offer that the bears gave up for fields. And I know Surtain was fantastic. But minus the big difference in interceptions. You could make a case that Newsome ii plus picks would have been a really nice combo.
