Kap isnt elite dude and never was. His final two seasons were a perfect example of that, elite QB's dont fold like that. Its not revisionist history when facts say otherwise. You are wrong here.

If the plan is to roll with Lock and have a vet FA as a backup with no QB comp then yes. We could even draft a guy like Ridder or Howell in rd. 2 and see how they develop this year while still looking towards 2023 with tons of draft ammo. If Lock is on shaky ground or deemed not ideal by the coaching staff then no we should draft a QB at 9 if they like one of the top 3 in Pickett, Corral, or Willis.
    Denver's 2024 George Paton Draft/FA plan

    Draft
    RD1- TE Brock Bowers, GA
    RD3- QB Spencer Rattler, SC
    RD4- CB Josh Newton, TCU
    RD5- S Reggie Pearson, OK
RD5- C Michael Jurgens, Wake Forest
RD6- K Jonah Dalmas, Boise St

    FA

Mediocre QB's today win games to get there teams to sniff a wildcard or hover at .500 they don't win SB's and this isn't a couple decades ago. The game is far different. Dilfer today would lose his job to Case Rypien as 3rd string QB option lol. Kap and Griffin were just a bit to early for the NFL. They had elite talent, but no coaches wanted to develop them into better passers so they were capped there, which is required in today's NFL, and a detriment to both. Lamar Jackson is dealing with a bit of the same issues right now as well. Its also why they started making Allen into a better Passer, That running shit cant be your go to, you gotta be able to throw the ball to hang long term.

Scary part about a QB class like this year's. Although some believe there is always a QB or 2 in each draft, it's simply not the case. I'll get behind at least trying for one at 9, but I still don't think it's the right play. IMO the dropoff from 1 to 6 is negligible.
