Default Report: Kyler Murray 'thinks he's been framed as scapegoat' for Cardinals failures

Kyler Murray's decision to scrub his social media of all things Arizona Cardinals raised eyebrows, and now ESPN's Chris Mortensen says there's even more reason for concern.

In a pair of tweets, Mortensen described a tense relationship between the quarterback and team. Murray is characterized as childish while the Cardinals are portrayed as aiming to ease the tension.

AND - Kyler Murray accused of pulling selfish move at end of playoff game

Kyler Murray sent a fairly clear message earlier this week that he is unhappy with the Arizona Cardinals, and it sounds like the feeling may be mutual.

Murray recently deleted all references to the Cardinals from his social media pages. The team then appeared to downplay the situation with their own not-so-subtle response on Instagram. There is clearly some tension between the two sides, however.

Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported on Sunday that people with the Cardinals were unhappy when Murray pulled himself late in the team’s Wild Card playoff loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Murray, who was banged up, benched himself for the final minute. Backup Colt McCoy encouraged Murray to finish the game despite the 34-11 blowout, but Murray refused. You can hear more at around the 35-second mark below:

Murray, who scrubbed any reference of the Cardinals from his Instagram account recently, is frustrated with the franchise, was embarrassed by the team's 34-11 playoff loss to the Los Angeles Rams and thinks he has been made the scapegoat, sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

The Cardinals have their own concerns about Murray, with sources describing the 2019 No. 1 overall pick as self-centered, immature and someone who points fingers.

Arizona coach Kliff Kingsbury is said to be self-scouting where he can provide better alternatives to help Murray, according to sources. Meanwhile, select veterans on the team hope to reach out to Murray on how the 24-year-old can better handle adversity, sources said.
