Javonte Williams is licking his chops! Dudes about to break out even better than he did last year, he will be the clear cut number 1 being fed the ball. Which holds well for our broncos because he gets stronger and stronger as the game goes on and defenses do not want to tackle this beast in the 4th quarter! I should’ve been more technical. The outside zone is part of the original west coast offense. There’s been variations of it that rely on the RPO and roll outs. The outside zone relies on the running game and lot of teams nowadays are all about passing the ball and have a generic running game. I’m sorry if I may have misstated my initial comment that this is an exclusive system of Hackett, it’s just the system that he runs, the outside zone is a key component of his offense. Hope this clears up any confusion

He said that system is designed to get big yardage running the ball. Do you guys remember the old Shanahan west coast offense that yield multiple 1000-yard runners? If you do, then you should understand the concept of Hackett system

I agree about Hackett vs Shurmur. My response was to his press conference in the original post. I just hope Bronco fans are patient.

Shurmur is just like so many other coaches, he’s a square peg in a round hole coach. He’s got to have the perfect players to run his specific scheme because he absolutely refuses to run anything else or to fit the scheme to his players’ strengths. He believes that the scheme is tried and true and if the scheme fails and the offense isn’t effective in that scheme, then it’s because of a lack of execution by his players, not on his unwillingness or inability to adjust his scheme to the defense or his players.

He is that “run it again” coach who will continue to run the same play over and over even though the defense has it figured out because he believes that if run perfectly, it’s indefensible which most of us know is bullshit. There’s a reason he’s been fired so many times in his career and while he’s had some success as an OC, the majority of it hasn’t been very good. It will be interesting to see if he gets another job in this league after this one. Especially if Hackett turns our offense around this year without Rodgers.

And the worst part of him is that his system wasn't even that special. A guy like Mike Martz at least could say his scheme helped maximize the ability of great offensive players. Shurmur had his day in the NFL, and he's had some success. . . but those days are gone. If you're a one trick pony it can only take you so far.
