I listened to Paton’s PC today, and yes I suppose it could just be GM talk, but he guaranteed that “we’ll get the right coach.” As I said in another thread, I believe Paton made his mind up about firing Vic at least a couple of weeks ago. If so, then there’s no doubt he’s been sending out feelers already. In my mind, Pederson is on the top of his list because we he has the least risk, and already won a SB.

I'm not a big fan of Willis. Yet.

I've only watched some highlights. Hes not my style of qb. But Paton wanted trey Lance. Mobile qbs are really making a dent in the league. He is that. Im just reading the tea leaves. Those leaves say Willis is their guy. I want Rodgers. Then russ. Then Watson. After that I dont know
    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell

Well, the new blood of mobile QB's are mid tier right now. Their QB'rs are nowhere near where Rodgers, Wilson, or Watson are. Maybe it gets better for them but right now they still need work based on their average QBR numbers. My guess is Willis will be in that same boat. What made Russell different than the rest was he was a pass first QB who only scrambled when need be. Allen has started to try and get to that point and Lamar is still a ways a way from that point. I would gladly take a mobile QB so as long as they are a pass first QB who doesnt need a lot of work.

I don’t want him to call plays anyway, I would like to see Nagy or Kafka be OC … preferably Kafka.

It HAS to be an offensive mind. Even if you look around the league, the majority of successful teams are headed up by offensive guys. Denver's own history is also filled with successful offensive coaches. Yes, they whiffed on McDaniels, but the only reason they succeeded after that was because they brought in Peyton to be the on-field OC.

You can't count on a defensive guy bringing an offensive genius with him. It rarely works like that unless you're going with a young defensive HC who has genius buddies and they all wanna be great together. Denver's list of potential defensive guys doesn't look like that.

So get the offensive guy. I would do Pederson as well, but he may not come here with the ownership issues and the lack of a QB. Maybe if they give him a long enough contract.

But no more DCs for the head coaching job, please. Get me someone who can do something with all the supposed talent Denver has on the offensive side of the ball, and who knows a guy for the defensive side.
    Pederson HC
    Kafka OC
Jim Leonhard DC (but getting him out of Wisconsin would qualify as a minor miracle, imo)

Indy losing to Jacksonville today has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that Reich was the OC in Philly the year they won the Super Bowl.

in regards to the OP, i want pederson-- he's one of my favorite coaches in the league, and it's an absolute crime that lurie fired him to keep that dopey GM roseman. . . dude is a super bowl winner, and a super creative offensive mind who learned under the master, andy reid. . . he also has gigantic brass balls, and is the definition of aggressive-- he helped usher in the current analytics-based trend of going for it on 4th down (and going for 2 in early game situations). . . more so, he's the dude who beat the belly / brady patsies in a super bowl with nick freaking foles, and he did it by doing shit like going for it on 4th and goal, and having the audacity to run a direct snap to the RB / reverse to the TE / TE pass to the QB play. . . he showed that he knows how to manage a young QB's development and win during the process. . . he also showed that he knows how to put together a tremendous staff, and give them room to shine. . . when a guy like that fets fired for missing the playoffs ONE YEAR, you know something was rotten in denmark. . .

my other favorites are brian daboll, and kellen moore. . . i also like leftwich, and would be fine with hackett. . .

i absolutely do not want dan quinn, or any other DC for that matter. . . if you want a defensive-minded HC, you already had arguably the best defensive mind currently in the game. . . and defense hasn't been a problem here since mcdaniels was the HC. . . how much of an upgrade does a guy like quinn offer? he's going to be better at using timeouts? he's going to hire a better OC-- who will then leave in a year or two anyway? you could have just gotten vic a new OC and a clock management coach. . . i want the new HC to bring his offensive scheme, playbook and terminology with him-- we desperately need some stability on that side of the ball, especially if we end up having to go with a rookie QB. . .
I’ve never thought of Kubiak as “Low ego guy”, interesting.

Yup, agree. And I want to make clear that not only am I not anti-Pederson, I was among the first people to bring him up as a candidate on this forum. He’s probably my #2 choice. I just think it needed to be clarified for those who don’t follow the Eagles very closely that Reich (and also John DeFilippo) deserves some of the credit for their offense the Super Bowl year.

DeFillippo should be available, he’s on Bears staff, isn’t he?

Yup, he’s part of that football family (a branch the Andy Reid tree). If Pederson were to enlist Nagy, DeFilippo would probably come along for the ride as well.

It kind of does when you are trying to place the entire win on Reich.

Leftwich is the top of my wish list, but I think Paton goes with someone he knows.

Both of these guys will get interviews, but I don't think they will get the job:
Browns DC Joe Woods (Vikings 06-13 overlapped with Paton)
Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy (Vikings 06-2010 overlapped with Paton)

If Paton has to go with someone he knows then JFE hired the wrong GM.

Kubiak's picture is in the dictionary next to the entry "Low Ego Guy".
