https://www.nfl.com/news/former-cowb...ses-away-at-77Reeves' family released a statement to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo:
"Legendary NFL player and coach Dan Reeves passed away early this morning, peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at his home in Atlanta, GA. He passed away at age 77 due to complications from a long illness. His legacy will continue through his many friends, players and fans as well as the rest of the NFL community. Arrangements are still to be determined."
This one hits close to home. My late great uncle was personal friends with Dan Reeves and I was able to meet the man and see him not as the Broncos HC I saw on TV but as a man interacting with a dear friend.
RIP coach.
Man, that sucks.
One of the better coaches that should have won at least 1 SB which made it kind of hard when we smacked around the Falcons but i do wish he could have at least won 1 SB earlier in John's career.
Darn, Dan was a really sweet person that was always kind and professional. It just seems so young. RIP Mr. Reeves.

rest - http://www.broncosforums.com/forums/...reply&t=612206ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Dan Reeves, the former Broncos head coach who helped usher the team to new heights in the 1980s, has died, his family informed the Broncos.
Reeves was 77.
The first head coach inducted into the Broncos Ring of Fame, Reeves led the Broncos for 12 seasons, and during that time, he helped the team reach new levels of success and set a standard for years to come as Denver reached three Super Bowls in a four-year span from 1986-89.
While the Broncos had been to the Super Bowl once before Reeves' arrival in Denver, his leadership and success helped turn the Broncos into perennial contenders as one of the NFL's top franchises. During his time in Denver, the Broncos won 60 percent of their games (110-73-1) and five division titles, the most of any coach in franchise history, and the team had just two seasons with a losing record.
Rest in Peace Coach Reeves

If Bud Grant and Marv Levy are in the HOF essentially for taking four teams to the SB then Reeves should be.
I believe he went to 9 SBs as a player and coach. Designed perhaps one of the more dynamic offenses of the 70s.
Before the haters say he won only because of Elway here, I will remind Chris Chandler. One of the greatest upsets in the history of the NFL. The Vikings in 1998 were virtually unstoppable. Broke several records. They go on the road with Chandler and win that game.
Again, took 4 teams to SBs.
Anyone want to compare and contrast Reeves record with Levy. Ok.
As a head coach, Reeves finished with over 200 regular season and playoff wins (201-174-2). He is one of only 9 head coaches to finish his career with that many wins. Based off just his coaching career Reeves deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.
Marv Levy compiled a record of 191 wins and 156 losses and 4 ties in his coaching career with the Montreal Alouettes, Kansas City Chiefs, Chicago Blitz and Buffalo Bills.
Yes, many of those wins credited to Levy are with the CFL and USFL.
Reeves cleared 200 wins in the NFL. BTW, look at what happened with the Giants once Reeves left. Remember he took over after Parcells and actually led the team with Simms to an 11 and 5 record during that Cowboy dynasty era.
Oh..
Yeah
Chris Chandler. Ok? Case closed

This tells you the type of person Dan Reeves was: He quietly paid for the funeral of the daughter of a
@Giants custodial staff member as he was leaving to become @AtlantaFalcons
head coach. You will be hearing more of these stories in days to come as we celebrate his life. RIP

RIP Dan Reeves!! Thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time!
Too bad she doesn't cheer for the Patriots dressed like this
He was a great ambassador to the game. He was a football coach!
And from articleDan Reeves, who won 110 regular season games and three AFC championships during his 12 years as the Broncos’ coach, has passed away at age 77.
During a 23-year head-coaching career, Reeves went 190-165-2 in the regular season and 20-11 in the playoffs, reaching four Super Bowls. Reeves is ninth-all time in regular season wins and tied with Jeff Fisher for most regular season losses.
Reeves was inducted to the Broncos’ Ring of Fame in 2014 and last coached in the NFL in 2003 with Atlanta. He won five AFC West titles with the Broncos. He is second in team history in regular season wins, behind Mike Shanahan (138).
“One of the winningest coaches in NFL history, Coach Reeves set the foundation for the Broncos’ decade of dominance in the 1980s and championship tradition for years to come,” the Broncos said in a statement. “Reeves coached the Broncos with integrity, character and toughness along with sincere appreciation for his players and coaches. His time with the Broncos was part of a remarkable 39-year career in professional football in which he appeared in the Super Bowl an astonishing nine times as a player or coach.”
full article - https://www.denverpost.com/2022/01/0...s-passes-away/Ex-Broncos public relations director Jim Saccomano tweeted about Reeves’ emotional departure from Denver.
“He stood in my doorway and shed tears when he left here for good,” Saccomano said. “Not many cry when they leave a team. Today, I cry for you, Coach.”

RIP to a great man and great head coach.
R.I.P Dan Reeves. A golden touch everywhere he went. Reading Broncoknight30's post about him, I'm surprised he's not in the Hall of Fame. I wonder what the argument is against him. Doesn't matter, it's a crime he's not in.
