rest - https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...madden-dies-85Hall of Fame coach and broadcasting icon John Madden died unexpectedly Tuesday morning, the NFL announced. He was 85
"On behalf of the entire NFL family, we extend our condolences to Virginia, Mike, Joe and their families," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. "We all know him as the Hall of Fame coach of the Oakland Raiders and broadcaster who worked for every major network, but more than anything, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
"Nobody loved football more than Coach. He was football. He was an incredible sounding board to me and so many others. There will never be another John Madden, and we will forever be indebted to him for all he did to make football and the NFL what it is today."
Rest In Peace John

I hate this.
“The only yardstick for success our society has is being a champion. No one remembers anything else.”
And he was a champion…. RIP, you are football immortality
Very sad news. NFLN had a special about him on Christmas. It's a must watch.
RIP.
RIP Madden…….
Maybe EA sports will finally put out a good game next time around in honor of mister madden!
Oh no! That's terrible news. Madden's voice is forever seared into my mind, Boom!
Not just a hell of a coach, broadcaster, and football mind but by all accounts just an all-around wonderful man and human being. I know his family will certainly miss him, as will generations of football fans.
Rest in peace Mr. Madden, I'm sure you'll be watching every Sunday.
I thought he passed away a few years ago. RIP John Madden.
absolute legend. . . no one did more to advance the love for this game. . . rest easy, big fella. . .
- John Elway“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

About 3 weeks ago a friend of mine and I were looking up at some Frank Caliendo’s imitation of John Madden. Great stuff!
