- John Elway“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”
It sucks NFL teams are so expensive. I really want a sole proprietor owner, but the options in that article aren't so great.

Careful what you wish for.
Judging by what happened to Walmart after Sam Walton’s death these ass holes are probably the Uber-rich version of the Monforts.

https://nypost.com/2022/04/08/walmar...oncos-sources/Walmart tycoon Rob Walton is poised to make a bid for the Denver Broncos — and is now the favorite to buy the team despite the NFL’s efforts to court Robert F. Smith, the nation’s richest African-American, The Post has learned.
Walton — worth more than $70 billion, according to Forbes — is expected to submit a Broncos bid on Friday worth more than $4 billion — the highest price ever paid for a professional sports team, according to sources close to the situation.
By comparison, hedge-fund billionaire David Tepper paid a record NFL price in 2018 of $2.2 billion for the Carolina Panthers. Chinese e-commerce mogul Joe Tsai topped that, paying $2.3 billion for the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets in 2019.
The Post last month broke the news that 77-year-old Walton was in the running, which since has been confirmed with several more direct sources.
The Broncos have set Friday as the deadline for opening bids and are only accepting offers that are for more than $4 billion, a source closely following the situation said.

We could do much worse than a Walton. I want an owner so rich that big signing bonuses for Broncos players are pocket change. I want a guy who doesn’t need to own the Broncos to be rich. Rob Walton is a guy like that. Additionally, he is 77 years old but he has one child - a daughter, Carrie, who also happens to be married to Gregory Penner who is the current Chairman of Walmart. That means there shouldn’t be a ridiculous fight over the team when he dies like the Bowlen mess. Carrie or Greg will inherit the team and there won’t be all this messy 12 kids with different mommas bullshit. Both Carrie and Greg are graduates of Georgetown and Stanford business school. Hopefully, they aren’t morons. They don’t appear to be “blood of the city” types who are just spoiled kids living off Daddy’s money. After seeing the mess the Bowlen trust has made, having a clear path for succession is important.

How many times does Robert Smith have to say he's not bidding on the team before people quit acting like it's a done deal that he's going to be owner. Any Bronco fan who would chose Smith over the eldest son of the Walton fortune is goofy in the head. If you want what's best for the organization you want the smallest group possible, preferably a single individual, and you want it to be an extremely wealthy individual.
Let's Rid3!!!!
I’m not sure what to think having the Walmart brand attached to the Broncos? I’m not a fan of Walmart.
My wife had some dealings with a Walton, applying for a grant to bring trade type training program to HS's, and she had a very good experience. The group she was with was awarded the grant and she has had about 5 meeting with this man and comes away more impressed every time. He's a grandson of one of the Walton heirs and he spends a lot of his time on non-profit stuff. Great guy. I find it funny how people assume all these people are just ruthless evil basterds who made all their money off the backs of the poor and downtrodden. Grow up and join us in the real world, not everything is a movie with villains and heroes.
Let's Rid3!!!!
I've actually bought a lot of Broncos stuff at Walmart.
