Yeah at least he's kind of owning it now - but I think he'll find that his explanation is too little and too late for most people... Even as a known Teddy apologist, I find this to be pretty inexcusable especially given the moment in the season... Unless he goes basically undefeated against the AFC west the rest of this season and leads us to the playoffs, this is likely going to be the defining moment of his legacy in Denver.
I don't disagree that this probably defines his time in Denver. Even Cam Newton, who has accomplished more than Teddy will ever dream of, is always going to have that business decision in the Super Bowl at the top of the list of what he's remembered for.
Seems pretty obvious that he hadn't seen the tape of the play yet when he talked about it after the game yesterday, and knew after seeing it there was really no excuse or hiding from it. I think he addressed it as well as he could have today, but you're right, the damage has already been done.
What did Bedweter say?

i was interested in hearing fangio's take, but i couldn't care less what teddy said in his press conference-- actions speak louder than words, and he already did his talking on the field yesterday. . .
- John Elway“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”
Like I said, people already made up their minds. Forget the fact that he came back a week after a brutal concussion, played a Thursday game on one leg, and even came back at all from an injury that almost cost him his leg. That one play apparently erases all that.
Melvin Gordon and the defense owe Teddy a massive gift for taking the heat off them for being just as if not more culpable for this loss than Teddy.
