Witnesses contradicted James' story, and leach just so happened to be fired the day before he was due a massive bonus for still being the coach. And he wasn't allowed to appeal and have his testimony/witness testimony heard because in Texas, public institutions are covered by something called "sovereign immunity".

That was a railroading plain and simple.

And one more thing, usually when something like this comes out about a famous person and it's something they've actually done repeatedly, people come out of the woodwork recounting their experiences. Not one single other player who ever played for Leach ever reported this happening. And again, actual witnesses there at the time said the incident with James never happened. Just a complete fabrication and railroading because Craig James had pull and was mad his son wasn't getting playing time.

I’m just saying if Drew Lock locked a concussed player in a shed you’d be (rightfully) turned off.

Luckily neither Mike Leach nor Drew Lock have ever locked anyone in a shed as far as we know!

From all the reporting I've seen, it was a total screw job. No one outside of the disgruntled parent Craig James ever corroborated this "locked in a shed story". And public schools in Texas get "sovereign immunity" so he doesn't even have any recourse to fight it.

gotta know who the new coaching staff is-- and what scheme they're running-- before this even becomes a discussion. . . but if he's a first rounder, that's a super hard pass. . . at his size, there's about zero chance dude is more than a one- or two-down nosetackle, and those guys simply aren't worth top picks in today's NFL. . . you can always pick up somebody else's former high pick (danny shelton on line one) on the cheap in free agency, if you need a big body to play gap control. . .
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

you'll have to ask someone who follows college ball more than i do, but i don't see that at all. . . atkins is a 300 lb upfield, disruptive three-technique. . . this guy looks like a classic space-eating nose / zero-technique. . .

I don't have a position on this either way, but I do recall reading, when Atkins was drafted, that he was similar to what you described. Too small, too light, short arms, etc.

Honestly I'm just bullshitting on here - I miss good convos.

He actually is 3 down player. Think more Vera in TB.

They rush on to the Swedes! They crash into the Swedish riters…. Overwhelm them! They crash into the second regiment - Overwhelmed! Resistance collapses, dissolves, they move forward as easily as if they were parading on a grand boulevard
