I disagree he brought in a vet QB to help upgrade our room, which we did need. It was this staff that did the whole QB battle BS then picked the wrong guy for what we needed long term vs what they wanted to save their jobs. Its backfired and both QB's have looked like shit under Shurmur and his Offensive play calling. Its a coaching issue, not a Paton issue.

I really can’t understand people trying to trash Paton because he didn’t come in year one with a staff he doesn’t want and bring in a young quarterback underneath these guy’s who clearly ruined Drew Lock. Why give them another to ruin his first year?

Because he did nothing to improve the QB situation.

To top it off he’s going to hold his coaching staff accountable for his own neglect.

That’s horse shit really. Paton expected Lock to be the guy. But Fangio and shurmer has other plans unfortunately.

TBW was the starter the very second they traded for him, he’s Paton’s guy.

Hmm, this presumes that Paton has the power to make football decisions. And I really doubt that’s the case.

He’s the GM. He makes those decisions just like he did during the televised part of the draft where he said he was getting Surtain and asked the guys in the room if they agreed. Elway was in that room too.

Most GM's don't dictate the starters.

No. I’m telling you Paton didn’t name him the starter. Fangio and Shurmur did that.

Right. He makes personnel decisions, not football/coaching decisions.

Plus, if they all wanted TBW as QB starter, they'd just have done that...

None do. However it’s clear Paton brought Bridgewater to be the guy, and with that allowed to Fangio to play the the house money. It was going to be Bridgewater all the way, and while a crappy performance by Lock in a not so ideal circumstances that didn’t play in his favor may have sealed the deal to start Bridgewater, it was the blessing in disguise the FO hoped to get and sell to everybody that Brian’s the clear winner.
Lock had his ups and downs, but never consistently as bad as Bridgewater has been showing.

They wanted to make it look like a democracy instead of a. Ándate, if you follow my drift...
