Default Broncos to honor Mike Shanahan, Steve Atwater during 2021 Alumni Weekend

DENVER — In recognition of Mike Shanahan's induction into the Ring of Fame and Steve Atwater's enshrinement into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the Broncos will celebrate the two legends' recent honors over the upcoming Alumni Weekend, culminating with ceremonies during the team's Week 6 game against the Raiders on Sunday.

Fans are welcome to join in on the festivities, which begin on Friday at 6 p.m. MT with Shanahan's pillar unveiling at the Ring of Fame Plaza on the south side of Empower Field at Mile High. Atwater's Hall of Fame bust will also be on display for the first time in Denver at the event.

After the public event, the team will host a private dinner and program honoring Shanahan and Atwater. A representative from the Pro Football Hall of Fame President will also be on hand to present Atwater with his Pro Football Hall of Fame Ring of Excellence.

On Saturday, Broncos alumni will visit UCHealth Training Center to attend the team's practice before the game.

now the team needs to honor him the way he'd want it-- by curbstomping the lousy raiders. . .

“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

Don’t know how to embed these Denverbroncos.com vids, but this great tribute is worth your time. Many cameos giving tribute to Shanny for his influence including the usual suspects, but also Kyle, McVay, LaFluer, etc.

The mere fact that John Lynch got into the ROF before Shanny is a travesty.

Nice gesture by the Denver Broncos organization to the best head coach this franchise has ever had.
Love me some Shanahan. Great man!

Shanny's contributions will sadly never quite get the appreciation they deserve. Not only brought home our first chip' but ended the NFC winning streak as a massive underdog. Completely changed the landscape for the AFC. People that weren't around for that won't appreciate just how tall a task that was.

It was John Elway cronyism. I loved Lynch when he was here, but yeah, there were other more worthy players that should have been higher on the list.

    Dear Denver Broncos,

Please don’t embarrass the team, city, and fans this Sunday, the day we honor Mike Shanahan as coach, by losing to the raiders. It would be a total insult to the legacy of the greatest coach and raider hater, this team has ever known.

    Sincerely,

    R8R H8R

It’ll be really nice if Shanny gives the speech to the team if on Saturday night. Most of the players, maybe all of them, have not idea of Shanny’s importance to the league, his legacy on the team, and how/why he got the team to buy into the concept of why fader week was more important than others.
