Wasn’t this the case of the New York Times jumping ahead and getting copies of the emails that was the catalyst for the whole thing to go kaboom?
Perhaps the NFL had its own way of dealing with the situation, but once it became national news, all bets were off and the NFL was put in a situation to act sooner that than they otherwise would’ve.
It’s possible that at the time of the New York Times involvement, that this was still an ongoing investigation
