The good thing is there's no rush to make a decision either way. We can let the season play out and make a decision then. If he plays the whole year at a pro bowl level, he gets us to the playoffs, and we make a nice run there, he'd absolutely deserve an extension. And if his level of play regresses and we peter out down the stretch, we move onto the next guy. No sense in worrying about a transaction that neither needs to be nor will be made anytime soon.
I had to go back and revisit this post. Based on this logic, it's not looking so good.
So far, we're 0-2 against that group of teams. . . Maybe we can beat the Eagles. Then we have Steelers, Ravens, Browns, Cowboys, Eagles. All five of those teams looked pretty damn good this weekend. If we're good enough to go 3-3 in our division, then we're good enough to win our share of those games.
I no longer think the Bengals are an "easy" win, and I'm not liking our chances of going 3-3 against our division.
Hopefully, we've hit a bottom and can rebound some. I think we can certainly play better than we have the past two weeks, but clearly we're playing worse than we were when I originally made the post above.
The notion of Falco being a hermit due to football is only the third strangest thing I've read today.
