You could go back to Elway... People were calling for his head after a few games.

I don't think Denver fans are any different than any others. All fanbases are impatient until their guy is playing at a pro-bowl level.

Denver fans are notoriously fickle about QB's and the org doesn't do a good job at developing them since Elway.
Were we living on different planets during the Cutler days? This fanbase went apoplectic when McDaniels traded Cutler away. I've never seen Broncos fans so upset. As for Oz, he played out his contract and went somewhere else. I think most fans wanted him back but understood that we didn't want to overpay. This idea that Denver fans give up on QBs too soon is a complete fantasy.

This is fair. But the idea that others have presented that "Josh Allen would have failed here because the fanbase would have run him off" is utter nonsense. Fan reaction has nothing to do with how a team is going to develop a QB.

Personally, I'm of the belief that many QBs are as much a product of right place, right time as those just predestined to be 'nfl qbs'.

I think a lot of guys that could've been solid NFL QBs in the right setting ended up getting burned out of the league by bad situations. And conversely, others who are considered solid NFL QBs might not have made it long term in the league as a starter in different circumstances.

And some (not all) QBs who are given up on 'too soon' have a negatively impacted outlook going further into their career which is self-perpetuating.

Posters here just make up random crap to try and support their ridiculous arguments. Allen would’ve been loved here, a top 5 pick and a QB, in the post-Manning drought, he would’ve been a freakin’ hero. Add in the offensive weapons, and holy crap….!!!! We missed big time on him, it’s ok to admit it.

Yeah, it was a more active board for sure. But I'm not sure if that is what perpetuated the drama, or whether the drama kept the board more active.

Although I have to say getting immediately iggy'd for not donning Teddy kneepads in week 1 makes me think it wasn't the OM's monopoly on drama that did it.

Carson Wentz is a good example of this. All Pro, Pro Bowler, SB Champion, and two years later not producing so see ya later (which, for the record, I think was the right move by Philly) -- N.F.L. stands for not for long.

No, but that still doesn't mean we would've done it well.

No we were not, when the trade went down people were livid, but it was also because the replacement was going to be Kyle Orton. However during Cutler's rookie season fans were already calling for his head and even some on this board were actually good with the trade in favor of Orton.
    Denver's 2024 George Paton Draft/FA plan

    Draft
    RD1- TE Brock Bowers, GA
    RD3- QB Spencer Rattler, SC
    RD4- CB Josh Newton, TCU
    RD5- S Reggie Pearson, OK
RD5- C Michael Jurgens, Wake Forest
RD6- K Jonah Dalmas, Boise St

Ultimately, it's a lot harder to develop a player when he's bad. Coaching can only go so far. Ultimately the player has to have the talent, intelligence, and drive to take the coaching and become a great player. I blame our QB failures more on Elway picking complete duds moreso than any lack of development. Development can only take a bad player so far. I think if you're a great player, you'll thrive anywhere unless it's a complete dumpster fire like the expansion Texans with Carr.

Fair, but we also don't develop QB's in Denver we recycle other teams trash, hope for miracles from 7th rd picks, or in a rare moment get lucky with a Peyton manning

How were people calling for Cutler's head during his rookie season when he didn't even get in until late in the year?

We have shared memories and neither of us is anything other than jokesters. Especially me and Shane. Strafen kinda less jokey, but he's not bringing drama either. Look just because a few friends razz each other over something you don't understand because you weren't there you don't have to get all mad and act left out or like it is "drama" just because we jab each other in the arm and giggle. You guys have your own history that we don't understand. Don't mean I'm going to tell you not to blab with your pals.

In fact Shane is the one that told me to migrate here. So again, chill. I got nothing but love for my guys. Don't mean I won't tease them though.
We had epic game threads where we were always jumping between football takes and dogging on those takes. Some dudes were weird like anywhere. True there was a gathering of weird over there. But there was good too. The grumps have checked this place out and already left.

I like our new digs. You guys are way cooler than that old place. Soon you'll get used to my weird. I'll grow on you. Like fungus.

There are multiple variables at play for sure. But Elway wasn't here for Cutler, and the coaching staffs since Shanny have been less then desirable to include Kubiak and his staff of retreads. Speaking of coaches can we fire our f'in special teams guy already FML
