Yea I remember we tried to trade for him but only if he took a pay cut. I was actually excited and hoped it would happen.

But then we got the great mark Sanchez instead
They don't make real men anymore

To me, this says all there is to say about Kap. Yes, that's exactly how it went down. I also recall we didn't really have a choice due to cap reasons and the 49'ers were willing to eat part of the salary to deal him. He didn't really want to be a player at that point though, he was content to be an 'icon'. The NFL was better leverage for him for not playing in that role. Blowing up the Baltimore opportunity on the cusp of signing was yet another indicator.

I wasn't crazy about getting him 5 years ago, but it could have worked then. Now? Not a chance.

Trey Lance already separating himself over Jimmy G. Stark difference in talent alone showing in camp. They’ll play it safe much like KC did with Mahomes, but his talent alone outweighs the rookie mistakes.

Meanwhile Lock can’t separate from a journeyman back up QB. QBs like lock need another element to counter the deficiencies in today’s NFL. Like running. Being a statue means you better be a great accurate QB who’s lights out at dissecting defenses. Otherwise you’re just like the rest of them that bomb out.

Jimmy G. failed the moment he couldnt put more points on the board when leading 20-10 after 3 quarters in the SB. I would hope that Lance can out play him for SF's sake. As for Lock, he can scramble. He has already shown he can do that but what he really needs is to be quicker reading defenses, improving accuracy, and going through his progressions. If he can do that and do it on a consistent basis he will have improved dramatically from the last couple of years.

Trey Lance has a real shot to be special.

Jimmy G is a high-end game manager. Nice guy. He went to school near me. He's a NFL starting QB. But he's not a special player.

3 man race? We all know how important 7 on 7 TDs are.

Watching 2 terrible QBs not pulling away from each other.

What’s funny to me is their approach about run/pass. They use last year as an example of too much passing, yet ignore why….being down multiple scores before halftime means more passing. What got them in a lot of early deficits were rushing the ball 0-2 yards per gain. Defenses dared them to pass and loaded the box everytime. Can’t force the run that way. Today’s NFL gift wraps passing games across the league with easy rules. PI should be the most exploited penalty from the offense. Sutton is good for drawing multiple PIs a game. Yet their plan is 3 yards and a cloud of dust? When the NFL is going in the air raid Mahomes type offenses Broncos want the Carolina Delhomme 3 yards cloud of dust offense.

This is what happens when you don’t have a QB. Especially if you don’t have one that can run. Cause those pass plays that end up run plays gets you 1st downs. Need multiple ways to move the sticks.

Based on the camp reports, there is not much improvement in Lock. Unfortunate, that we didn't take a QB in the draft.

North was so so so so wrong on this guy.

Surtain will be able to be the nickel DB covering TE this year & that we have not had in forever.
    Fields might be awesome.
But Surtain is going to be a top 5 CB for 10 years. Fields was a question, Surtain was not.

Also, Lock has only been picked off by first team DBs. & That's in a secondary that looks like one of the top 5 in the league.
Those fellas should pick off a few from any QB.
Wait until preseason, that's when we will see if Lock's off-season work has paid off.

Remember Chicago lost Fuller and Callahan to the Broncos and they really don't have strength like the Broncos in their secondary too.

I am bummed that we didn't score Rodgers.
But Lock isn't as bad as some are making it seem. And TBW is a viable back up compared to Driskel.
