Default Tom Brady playing entire 2020 season with torn MCL could spell trouble for Bucs under NFL policy

Tom Brady played the entire 2020 season with a torn MCL, potentially creating a major problem for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to a report.

Since winning his seventh Super Bowl ring, Brady has been open about dealing with a "pretty serious" knee injury that required post-season surgery. A report this week in the Tampa Bay Times revealed that the veteran quarterback played every game with a torn MCL in his left knee, an injury suffered during his final season with the New England Patriots.

While playing hurt seems like an impressive feat, the Buccaneers might be in trouble with the league for failing to disclose the injury.

As pointed out by CBS Sports, the NFL handbook requires all teams to disclose any injury -- especially those of "key players."

As it should. Nondisclosure of injuries is against policies. Always has been. I REALLY want the League to smash the Bucs for this, they will not. I'm actually really mad about it.

I think it would be more fun if you didn't have to tell anybody a player is injured. Or you could lie about them being injured and then boom surprise, Broncos QB Aaron Rodgers was never injured.

One favorite story of mine was when Mike Shanahan once took Jake Plummer out of a game and sent in another QB (can't remember if it was Cutler or not) and ordered Plummer to fake a concussion on the bench to disguise his real reason for taking him out. Plummer agreed but was soon back at Shanahan's shoulder: "How do I fake a concussion?"

They got Greek (the trainer) to dampen a towel and made Plummer wear it on his head pretending he was woozy.

I guess it wasn't a dumb question. Most people, if they have a concussion, don't realize they have one.
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.

Overblown story - people function doing manual labor jobs with worse injuries and without top notch medical care all the time- but of course since it's Brady we must celebrate it

This isn't a huge deal IMO. ACL? yes. Hell, I went 90% of a deployment with a torn MCL and destroyed meniscus then attended Staff Academy immediately after where my knee would swell like crazy after every run, etc.

Still did it. Had the surgery a couple months later. Did it suck? Yeah, but it's possible and you make that sacrifice when necessary. If the Bucs sucked and weren't going to make the playoffs he wouldn't have continued to push it.

With what he had on the line, makes total sense. Also, not as though he's a runner.

A headline of "Immobile and unathletic athlete coasts through minor inconvenience on loaded team that provides greatest healthcare in the world," isn't as snazzy

This doesn't register on the Steve McNair/Donovan McNabb level of pain a QB has played through

Pey-Pey started 2015 with a cane and finished it with a rascal scooter after Brock (the most underappfeciated giraffe ever) ran it into a tree week 17.

TB12 is just whoring himself out for attention again, I hope it costs his team a draft pick.

Btw, JFE played his entire college/NFL career w/o an ACL, I have thrived for 51 + years w/o a heart … TB12 tweaked his vagina, nobody cares.

TBH that'd be pretty newsworthy if it came out that he had a vagina!

So, TB & TB broke the gamblers'/FF enablement rule. After all, the only reason that teams are required to provide injury reports so gamblers and FF players can have the info they want to make better decisions.
