    Default Demaryius Thomas Retires

Per Adam Schefter - After 11 NFL seasons that included 9,763 receiving yards and a load of big plays, Broncos’ WR Demaryius Thomas is retiring from the NFL.

In an era of huge and fast WR's, DT stood tall among his peers

Default 'He belongs among the greatest players in Broncos history': John Elway, Joe Ellis reflect on Demaryius Thomas' career

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — As former star receiver Demaryius Thomas enters retirement, he leaves behind a legacy with the Broncos that firmly places him among the team's all-time greats.

Thomas' career featured an array of individual achievements — five Pro Bowl selections, placement at or near the top of several franchise records — and he played a key role in helping the Broncos reach significant team goals during his nine years in Denver.

For all these reasons and so many more, Thomas remains a beloved former Bronco to those within the organization and outside it.

In a statement, President of Football Operations John Elway expressed his admiration and gratitude as he looked back on Thomas' talent as a player and his contributions to Denver as a person.

He'll be in the ring of fame.

We don't make SB50 without him.

I'd like to read the long feature story about what went wrong in DT's professional or personal life. Great career - but the decline at the end felt precipitous, was that all injuries?

Such a stud WR at his prime. He and Decker even elevated Tebow's game and was a big reason in my mind that Manning decided to come here. Nothing but love for DT!

Probably the Achilles more than anything, that's not an easy injury to return from.

Default Former Jets WR Demaryius Thomas retires after 10-year career

Demaryius Thomas last played for the Jets, but he’s retiring as a member of the Denver Broncos after 10 years in the NFL.

Thomas announced his decision Monday over Twitter. He has not played since 2019, his only season with New York.

Thomas caught 36 balls for 433 yards and one touchdown in 11 games after the Jets traded with the Patriots in Adam Gase’s first year with the team. Thomas also spent a year with the Texans after playing the previous nine seasons with the Broncos. Thomas played under Gase in Denver.

Thomas will serve as an honorary caption when his two former teams – the Broncos and Jets – face each other in Denver in Week 3 on Sept. 26, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Thomas finished his career with four Pro Bowl appearances, including three consecutive nods from 2012-2014 with Peyton Manning under center in Denver.

“I always had great respect for your toughness, your work ethic, your fearlessness across the middle, your ability to make big catches in big games,” Manning said. “You did it the right way.”

Overlooked among DT’s accomplishments: 132 consecutive games played (including postseason) from end of 2011 until 2018 finale. #9sports

Yeah, but even that still doesn't explain why they couldn't wait to get him off the team and out of town. Just never really fully understood why he fell out of favor so rapidly.
