You actually think the uniforms have anything to do with winning or losing?

I used to own a book called, "The Bronco Bible," which inspired the screen name of a long-time member of this site who hasn't been around for a while. It was printed in '75, covering the Broncos' 1st 15 seasons. It explained our original owner, Robert Howsam, was such a cheapskate that he didn't even by buy the team play books. This was later confirmed when I watched a NFL Films clip showing the Broncos' 1st QB, Frank Tripucka, drawing up plays in the dirt like he was playing a kid playing a sandlot game against other neighborhood kids. According to The Bronco Bible, the reason our 1st HC, Frank Filchock, bought those socks was because he had to buy the cheapest uniforms possible and they on clearance sale because they sold so poorly. When the team was sold, our 2nd HC, Jack Faulkner, held a public uniform burning of our original uniforms prior to the '62 season because they were so despised and switched us to the orange and blue "drunken donkey" logo and uniforms. So, I do find it surprising that so many people loved what the Bronco Bible described as the "barnyard brown and yellow" with vertically striped socks throwback uniforms.
They were not on a clearance sale. The original jersey's/socks came from a defunct college bowl game. The Broncos 1st uniforms were used college bowl game duds. I'm assuming it must have been like an East/West shrine game type of bowl game. There were reports that those original uniforms didn't fit all that well either, go figure.

FWIW, I love our Orange jersey's, just not when we play in the Super Bowl. We have had enough beat downs in those.

All I know is what I read in an out-of-print source that I can't produce to make my case. What's your source?

I mean, I have multiple publications that reference it, but would the Broncos own website work for you?

    https://www.denverbroncos.com/news/s...0Copper%20Bowl.

The Broncos' first GM, from 1960-61, was Dean Griffing.

He did the best he could with his budget, which would have had to be stretched to be called limited. He bought the first uniforms, the fabled mustard-and-brown unis, used from a defunct Arizona bowl game, the Copper Bowl.

    An ass-horse like a mule? Cross-chromo stuff?

    I wouldn't want that either.

But I've heard that mules are actually mean ass sons of bitches. Sons of mares, technically, I suppose.
