It's an odd numbered year. Don't tell me this wasn't written in scripture to begin with.

They should sign both Kelly and Massie. Both would be an upgrade over the dumpster fire of "talent" at the position that Elway had brought in the last few seasons.
Little surprised Mitchell Schwartz isn't being brought in.

So, it seems the NFL had to send out a memo because there were players commenting about James that didn’t know teams could do this.
Sounds to me like the players need to read their union contract guidelines. Every labor union I’ve ever seen has all the union rules written down in the contract and they normally provide a handbook that has all those rules in writing for the members of the union when you join. If the NFLPA isn’t providing them or the players just don’t read them, tough shit.

People get played by their unions all the time the NFLPA is no different. They grandstand on Vol OTA's and don't actually tell players what that will look like or mean. The only clarification they gave was that players on workout bonuses should still report to get money, but they are idiots for not explaining what a NFI is in the context of the off-season program.
At the same time Players are adults over 18 and should act like it, you have contracts for a reason, read it or get someone to do it for you. James can blame the NFLPA, but he also has himself to blame. In the end I think Denver should do right personally and do a solid injury settlement, so he can be cut and both parties can go their separate ways. We get a smaller Dead cap hit, have to pay less, and James doesn't lose out on as much money as he could right now, and both sides can move on.
I would bring In Kelly and maybe 1 of Massie or Dotson on a cheap Deal. Then we can f'in address it for real next year I hope.

1. With what money
The NFL has by far the weakest players union in pro sports.
- John Elway“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”
I almost always side with players on these kinds of things but Juwaun James can suck it. That dude has done nothing to deserve $17M or whatever the **** the number is. He sucks.
Even if this was a productive player we all liked such as Von, the language in the contract is still very clear that the team can go after your money if you get hurt working out away from team facilities. They are paying these guys millions of dollars to be healthy and go on the field and perform. It's not unreasonable to require all workout/training activities to take place under the supervision of team trainers and doctors. That's just part of what you sign up for in exchange for the big bucks you get.
rest - https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...ry-source-saysFormer Denver Broncos offensive tackle Ja'Wuan James is strongly considering filing a grievance through the NFL Players Association for lost wages after he tore his Achilles tendon away from the team facility, a source told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler on Saturday.
James, who was released Friday with a post-June 1 designation, could seek more than $10 million in salary for the 2021 season that the Broncos appear likely to void after they designated him with a non-football injury.
The injury has already been a flashpoint between the NFL and the NFLPA over the "non-football injury" designation, which means teams are not required to pay players their full base salaries if they were injured outside of team facilities.
