Shane and I didn't get birthday invites. Oh and Denver Native doesn't subscribe to his newsletter.

How do you tease out his contribution rather than Reid's? It seems every gas-on offense he was a part of, it was as deputy to the actual 'genius' (Chip Kelly, Andy Reid).

Reid had him there for a reason. I also think that Denver knows how valuable OC Kubiak was, even though he was attached to Shanahan. For reference, Shurmur started out in Philadelphia coaching the line and tight ends. Reid kept promoting him.

I also think (and this is pure opinion) that Kelly wasn't a NFL level genius. So I struggle to ding him for that. But, Kelly also called the plays there. Shurmur called plays in his later stints.

Reid has given up playcalling duties in the past. Also worth remembering.

Shurmur is a good football coach. He's not a good head coach. And given how he seems to refuse to update what he wants to do -the opposite of Reid- maybe the game has moved past him.

When Shurmur was hired I thought 'there's a solid coach with a good reputation. He'll stabilize things'. Especially after the horridity of Scangarello. And...nope.

Or maybe he was just one of those coaches that people liked, didn't absolutely suck, and got jobs that way.

Some people on here are probably relieved that they now have an excuse to give Lock another shot in 2022

yall really dont want me to get started on shurmur.

This dude ran Steven Jackson into the ground, got Sam Bradford hurt. Got micheal vick hurt. had a good season with foles, lesean mccoy, desean jackson and zach ertz. One of the most explosive group of players together.

He gets credit for Case Keenum for some reason. When all Keenum did was dump it off to Adam Theilan and Diggs.

Pat Shurmur refuses to leave tes in to help tackles against elite edge rushers. Leaving his Qbs getting destroyed and playing hurt most of the time. I could probably go on for another hour. but yea....

If he can't do it this year, regardless of a shaky RT, it's over. At least in Denver.

Lock has 6 games to prove that he's worth a damn.

so, we knew it was gonna happen at some point-- getting hurt is what this dude does. . . with that said, it's probably better in the long run that we got it out of the way now. . . there aren't a ton of great options out there to replace him, but the pickings are better than they will be in october. . . and if calvin anderson is going to replace him, at least now he can get all the reps in camp, and he has a chance to start building chemistry with glasgow. . .
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”
