That said...Mond was solid if nothing else over his A&M career. Played well enough to get an invite to the Senior Bowl and won the MVP of the game. He can run when necessary, but has a ton of patience in the pocket, strong arm, quick release, throws great on the move, SEC experience. But, I feel like he was never pressed to develop more than he has. There are definitely still some things that need a lot of work. Pocket awareness, keying on primary receiver, accuracy on mid range passes, etc.

If he was there in the 3rd, I would take a chance on him as a developmental QB and hope that Shurmur can coach him up...but I wouldn't take him any earlier than that.
There are some rumors out there we have interest in him in the rd 3-4 range.....I would also be fine with Rd 3 and taking a chance on him, but as you alluded to not so sure he isn't just a solid backup type.....We dodnt exactly have a good track record of getting the most out of our QB's in Denver either....

The potential is definitely there and I think if he is going to be successful, it's going to be in a West Coast system. I know he can master the nuances because Jimbo runs a pretty technical offense...I just haven't seen enough "wow" from him over the last 4 years to have much faith in him being any better than what he appears.

This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

If there is one thing I'll give Mond, its that he has been at least moderately successful against SEC defenses and has not had one of his receivers ever get drafted. Jhamon Ausbon might go in round 6 or 7 this year, but he also opted out in 2020.

So, Mond has had to make do with mediocre receivers. TE's have been decent with Sternberger and Wydermyer, but thats it.

PL is still a better “talent“ to this day, just because he was a huge bust doesn’t mean he isn’t the better talent..

Yep, the kind of talent that bad execs like Al Davis, Jerry Jones, and John Elway would drool over! Forget if they have the mental aptitude and work ethic needed to play football at a high level. He throw ball real far!

And that is why you never try to hide your interest in someone and don't do your due diligence. I think that was the biggest problem with the pick not the fact that they chose him

You don’t think the Broncos did their homework on whether or not he had the intangibles? JFE just didn’t put “It factor” over actual talent, I still like the pick but it just didn’t pay off.

You have to admit that the Broncos still had the “It factor” in spades, Keesum, Siemian, Rypien ... those haven’t paid off either. So calling JFE a bad exec cause he drafted PL is hyperbole, and ironic considering he tried it your way too ... and it failed.

I try not to play around with the 'It Factor' too much but sometimes I can't help it.
