Default Lindsay vents about his usage in Shurmur’s offense.

On Monday, the 26-year-old fan-favorite made a guest appearance on 104.3 The FAN’s Nick and Cecil where he vented on his usage in the Broncos' offense last year and spoke to how running backs are being undervalued in the current passing climate of the NFL.
“I feel like it’s a joke,” Lindsay told hosts Nick Ferguson and Cecil Lammey. “The running back position is very important and the team that can run the football the best, is going to win games and that’s shown."

I understand Lindsay's feelings on how he is used at times in the offense but at the same time he is not that durable and there are only so many touches a back can have unless you are a primary like Derrick Henry.

    Lindsay is not durable?

Not really, he gets hurt a lot or at least seems to be banged up a lot.

Unless Lindsay can channel his inner Warrick Dunn and stay healthy he’s going to be a change of pace back, he’s also not a pass catcher or a pass pro back.

In shurmer offense that’s a no no. Lindsay has a role here but he’s never going to be a pound the ball type of guy r a 3 down guy. Only a spell guy who I do like. Another thing is the guy just doesn’t score touchdowns.

Just from reading what was quoted in the OP, seemed more like a complaint about how running backs are used in general than a specific complaint about how Shurmur uses him. Maybe there was more he said that wasn't in the OP, but I don't really see anything wrong with the isolated quote.

Lindsay is our most explosive back, and he hasn't been used properly. he's right. its bad coaching.

How should he be used then? Knowing we’re tipping our bag that every time he’s in the game it’s a guaranteed run play because he can’t catch or pass pro?

I don't understand why he's not as engaged in the passing game as other smaller, shiftier backs are--he caught the ball well in college. It's the perfect way to get the ball to him in space, I just don't get it.

His pass pro is an issue, might be why he's not seeing as many snaps. You make a decent point.

Still, he doesn't fumble and he runs tf out of the ball. How hard can it be to design plays for him? Don't make him pick up the blitzer, make him the release option. Idk.

He absolutely runs the ball well but sheesh that’s exactly what the defense knows the minute he’s in the game. I’ve watched him get exploited in pass pro not because of effort but because he’s out gunned physically and that’s just never going to change.

Regardless of how Lindsay feels and regardless if he’s right or not, airing stuff like this and calling out the coaching staff to the media or the public is never the right way to do things. I get so tired of the entitlement attitude of athletes - perpetuated by the media that eggs them on by continuously telling them how bad their last season was to rile them up - where they think that it should somehow be about them and they aren’t being “used properly” if they aren’t successful.

Does that work for any Joe blow working schlubs here? Get pissed by what your boss tells you to do or how to do it or “misuse your talents” so you go vent publicly on Social Media or some other public forum about what a shitty boss you have? Does calling out your boss publicly ever make a problem you have with them better? Makes you wonder if Lindsay ever took the time to talk to Modkins, or Shurmur, or even Fangio about these issues and possible solutions or if he just stewed on it all season and waited for that open mike to air his grievances. This kinda shit not only gets your own team to distance itself, it also gets other teams to think twice about taking a chance on you when your contract does expire.

I just don’t understand why these players seem to think this stuff is a good idea? I guess it works sometimes for premier players. Usually though, it doesn’t. Lindsay isn’t Watson. He’s not a generational athlete who can get away with making demands and calling out the team. He’s an UDFA undersized RB who can be successful when healthy in the right scheme. I know he’s worked hard to get where he is and I know he’s a local boy fan favorite but I honestly don’t think the Broncos will suffer much without him. RBs, as everyone keeps saying, are a dime a dozen.

You’re right. They should hand it off to Melvin more so he can cough it up at the worst possible time to lose a game.

You lost me when you made the Joe schmo comp. Top level pro athletes simply get to play by different rules in their workplace than the average Joe. That's just how it is. If you had a rare skillset that only a few hundred people in the world possessed, you'd be able to get away with shit like that at work too. I get that doesn't play well with most fans, but it's the way it is.

Your point is well taken that Lindsay m! maybe doesn't have the clout that Watson has to get away with it, but ultimately if the Broncos think he can still help them win, he'll still be playing for the Broncos.
