Yep Denver likes its injury prone players that play good in a contract year despite being shit before that. Also I wasn't a huge Bouye fan, but he was market priced and could be moved on from quite easily if it didn't work out which is exactly what happened the Bouye and Darby situations have no comparison. Its not the same for Darby who if he is hurt or struggles were stuck with.
Also I stated Jackson was a top 5 FA safety not a top 5 overall safety in the NFL but many in the NFL believed he still played at a high level, we have no replacement in house, the FA class is very avg. and while you believe the draft to have some solid prospects none of them really look like they can provide instantly what KJax did in the locker room and on the field next year.
I have stated multiple times if it was a long contract we wanted out of so be it but paying his final year and then moving on was the best call here.

Denver's 2024 George Paton Draft/FA plan
Draft
RD1- TE Brock Bowers, GA
RD3- QB Spencer Rattler, SC
RD4- CB Josh Newton, TCU
RD5- S Reggie Pearson, OK
RD5- C Michael Jurgens, Wake Forest
RD6- K Jonah Dalmas, Boise St
FA

Long term I would certainly agree with that but in a division and league that's passing heavy, 2 talented safeties is never a bad thing even if it costs you 30 mil for a year, cause you have no in house replacements or worthwhile FA's to go after. For me you draft a safety and develop him but keep kjax so when you move on from kjax next year your already prepared, now we just have another hole to fill with less talent and ready options.....

Javon Holland is a guy I’d snag In Round 2 to replace Kjax. I think Holland among a couple other guys have potential to be good safeties. It’s not he end of the world losing Jackson man. Sure he’s been a good run defender for us but let’s not make it seem like he’s irreplaceable.
It’s the only way to be a great franchise year in year out. Building through the draft is the best formula, Darby has always had great potential since coming out of Florida state, he’s only 27 and has a few prime years. If he can stay healthy he’s going to be a great corner for us.
Ronald Darby highlights! Most improved player last year if you ask me on the defensive side of the ball.
https://youtu.be/AIAhQsfL6E4 Dudes closing ability and his ability to get his hands on balls to break up passes was outstanding.

More Darby film breakdown. Just shows that we actually got a great corner, this guy really played some outstanding football last year.
Up until the last few games of the season, Lock almost never looked for a check down throw. He oftentimes stares down his first read and throws the ball there. As the season progressed, I did see him going through his progressions more, throwing the ball away more, and dumping the ball of to an RB in the flats.

I agree. I'm a little up in the air on Lock as far as whether or not he can make that leap in year three, but excited to see if he can. He's got the line, he's got the weapons, and now he's got consistency. As long as everyone stays relatively healthy, there are zero reasons why he shouldn't be successful aside from him just not being a good QB if that's how it works out.
