    Default Philip Rivers Retires

Philip Rivers retires from NFL, ending 17-year career spent with Los Angeles Chargers and Indianapolis Colts

Philip Rivers is retiring from football, ending his 17-year career as one of the most prolific quarterbacks in NFL history.

Rivers, who spent this past season with the Indianapolis Colts after 16 years with the Los Angeles Chargers, told ESPN's Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen in a statement Wednesday that playing quarterback in the NFL was his "childhood dream."

Kinda saw this coming but also thought that he would want one more shot at the playoffs with Indy before he called it.

If he won a SB just once he'd have a legacy.

Rivers was a great quarterback. Canton will come calling.

    That throwing motion though!

He was a great QB, and a good person to boot.

Never struck me as great. Not even close. Never scared me as a passer when Denver had to face him.

Nah? He always seemed to find the hole in the defense and Sproles would turn a 3d and 23 into a 50 yard touchdown. He had more than one game where he had to put the team on his back and he'd throw a late pick, but he also had plenty that he won...

He looked unstoppable vs Den pre-Manning

He’s definitely a Hall of Longevity guy, and no he won’t be remembered like Elway. Brady, Montana, Manning. But he has every bonafide to be included with the Fouts and Esiasons of the world.

    Bye, Philecia!
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”
    - John Elway
