rest - https://gazette.com/sports/broncos/m...ef4ec2c16.htmlMinnesota Vikings Vice President of Player Personnel/Assistant General Manager George Paton is the Denver Broncos' new general manager, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Wednesday and the Broncos later confirmed. Paton agreed to a six-year deal with the Broncos.
Paton, 51, was considered one of the Broncos' top candidates when President of Football Operations John Elway announced Jan. 4 that he would be moving to an elevated role, after serving as GM for 10 years. The Broncos interviewed five candidates for the position, including Chicago's Champ Kelly, New Orleans' Terry Fontenot, New England's Dave Ziegler and Denver's own Brian Stark.
Paton first interviewed with Elway, President and CEO Joe Ellis and coach Vic Fangio on Friday and had a second interview in-person Tuesday. Less than 24 hours later, he was named the Broncos' 15th GM in franchise history.

I think that's part of why he chose Denver knowing Fangio his staff and his defensive accolades. Fangio for all his faults with management as a coach has proven he can field a sound competitive defense and develop players with peanuts left on the roster due to injuries, it could be a very good pairing. Rumor has it is Fangio is getting a lot of love in league circles for his defense this year with all the injuries and and rightfully so. Now if he can figure out how to use f'in timeouts he may be on his way lol

the 2 drafts of 2018-2019 were pretty good and even more so if lock turns the corner next year, this past years drafts top 3 picks struggled quite a bit though. And prior to that we know it was pretty rough 2016 and 2017 were horrible. Yes we found gems later...but most our our premium picks rd. 1, 2 and 3 weren't very good. maybe 50-50 over the last 6 years

rest - https://www.denverpost.com/2021/01/1...-george-paton/Perhaps you don’t believe in ghosts or karma. But while the Broncos were wooing George Paton as the general manager to restore our local NFL team’s lost glory, the spirit of late franchise owner Pat Bowlen was in the room.
If it all goes according to plan and the football acumen of Paton allows a member of the Bowlen family to hoist the Lombardi Trophy as confetti swirls after the fourth Super Bowl victory in team history, we will look back fondly at an hour-long, private meeting between Brittany Bowlen and Paton.
And the room where it happened? Mr. B’s old office, which stands like a shrine to excellence at Broncos headquarters.
“They went into Pat’s office to talk,” team CEO Joe Ellis told me Wednesday. “I thought that was the best place where they could get a sense of history of the team and its success through Pat’s influence.”

If that didn't scare the shit out of him, nothing will.

rest - https://www.denverbroncos.com/news/m...f-george-patonAfter the Broncos announced Wednesday that Minnesota's George Paton will be their next general manager, the move gained rave reviews from his colleagues, NFL reporters and former NFL players.
One of the people who commented was former NFL quarterback Sage Rosenfels, who has some experience around the new GM. In 2002, Paton helped the Dolphins acquire Rosenfels in a trade from Washington.
"George Paton is an absolute stud," Rosenfels wrote.
