The Broncos just recently promoted a female to a high executive position, and while I don't think one of the Bowlen girls will own the team....right now that's a story, a female team chairman/owner. If the Broncos are the team to trade for Watson....those two women...who will have played roles in making it happen, are going to face incredible scrutiny from people asking how as women....could they just ignore Watsons discretions? What kind of leaders are they to look the other way for $$$ and winning...etc? .....
I think Watson will eventualy settle and apologize in a way that gives him a little wiggle room such as "I am used to certain types of massage, and I was wrong to assume these ladies understood what I expected...I never intended any of my actions to scare them or make anyone uncomfortable. I can see in hindsight now, how what I was expecting and asking from these professionals who weren't familar with my routine, would be scary, offensive, etc. I apologize sincerely. "
He similarly wiggles out of any criminal situaition as well...and Goodell might bring the pain...but that wont last.
I don't think losing some fans is the problem. The NFL is super popular...it will thrive in Denver without the men and women of #metoo.
The problem is Denvers ownership and exec setup. There will be other teams whose leadership will be more willing to absorb the crappy PR hit.
In the end....most of us, will accept or tolerate alot...many dudes that play this sport are not very good people even if we wish they were...when the games start, frankly most of us, myself included....don't really care about much besides winning. Those jerks are paid to play football for my entertainment and I want them to win....I'm not really worried if dude X is an A hole to his girlfriend or has a drinking problem. Sad but true.
We easily have the worst starting QB in the division, there's no sense in denying that reality. I hope that changes this year or else we're ******.
There’s a glimmer of hope. That’s what I got. Something Nate Tice said on Mina Kimes’ podcast bugged me though. He talked about how the Chargers found some universal route concepts that Justin Herbert was good at and he expects Joe Lombardi to hammer those home, much like the Saints have done for a decade with Drew Brees. He said with Drew Lock on those same universal concepts he’s doing things that just clearly are not taught, mechanically and schematically. That just worries me. Maybe he’s fixed that, that’s the hope. Maybe working Peyton Manning has fixed that. Manning was the king of running a concept over and over and over and you know it’s coming but you can’t stop it. So there’s your hope.
