    Default New GM talk

So football nerds, I’m not a draftnik and I’m even less of a “I know stuff about FO guys”. So now that we’re in the market, in your opinion:

Who is available who is worth hiring?
Who are you hoping for and why?
Who would be a disaster and just perpetuate losing?

Please educate me. I know very little about this type of stuff as far as who is good and who isn’t. Now that the press conference has made it official, I figure we could use a thread to talk about it and any updates.

Of this list, Kevin Kelly is an interesting name that I didn't hear yesterday who has no previous ties to the Broncos.

I won't pretend I have enough knowledge of the candidates to say who I think should get it, I just hope it's someone who won't be scared to overrule what Elway wants and tell him no. If it's just going to be an Elway yes-man, nothing is really changing.

    We are not friends anymore.
    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell

The GM imo must be someone with a scouting background. Otherwise we are in trouble. Elway found his rut when listening to his gut. Our last 3 drafts have been really really good!

One more super solid draft can bring us over the hump. If the new GM is not of a scouting background, I do not want him. If he blows the draft or we go back to the shanny days of drafting where we hit on like 2 maybe 3 picks per draft.....No Bueno!!!

Champ Kelly is currently the guy I hope we hire. With Elway staying with the organization, I'm thinking Denver targets a personnel director moving up in the ranks instead of a retread GM. Personally, I like this more because we've seen the body of work of a lot of these retreads, and it is completely a mixed bag.

Rick Smith gets all of this credit for JJ Watt, Hopkins, Watson, but then you look at some of his personnel decisions like signing Ed Reed (and letting Glover Quinn walk), and all you can do is shake your head. Let's give someone who has learned in a great organization how to run personnel their first shot at being the guy.

I keep hearing about Ed Dodds from Indy being a hot GM prospect. Anybody know anything about him?

Adam Peters is my top choice. He helped to bring Broncos and Niners to Super Bowls. He is one of the most experienced executive staffs.

Rick Smith hiring Bill O'Brien was what soured me on him.

Rick Smith and Elway were both all in on Brock Osweiler... Wouldn't exactly inspire a ton of confidence to have those two teaming up to find the QBOTF.
