I think it's a good move. Hopefully they find a solid candidate.
A New General Manager! It's about time! I hope they will hire a damn good GM!
PFM for GM? Discuss.
Get the dude from San Francisco...Adam Peters.
I'm actually having mixed feelings here. Elways last 3 drafts have been pretty on point. But can't assess QB to save his life.
I give Elway major credit for putting his ego aside and doing this. No one was going to fire him with the ownership situation still in flux, so he could have just ridden this out until then.
I'm also glad Russell isn't going to be sliding into that job. It's really time to bring in someone from outside the organization to infuse some fresh ideas. Hopefully whomever it is gives the current coaches and players at least next year to take the next step, but if they don't, I'm glad it will be someone outside the current good ol boys club doing the rebuild.
"We saw it…. the hussars let loose their horses. God, what power! They ran through the smoke and the sound was like that of a thousand blacksmiths beating with a thousand hammers
They rush on to the Swedes! They crash into the Swedish riters…. Overwhelm them! They crash into the second regiment - Overwhelmed! Resistance collapses, dissolves, they move forward as easily as if they were parading on a grand boulevard
There has been industry speculation that Elway isn't the hardest working GM out there... Now you see that his right hand man Matt Russell is burnt out and ready to retire -- if nothing else I think it's good that they're bringing in someone new who is potentially hungrier than they are.
My concern is that Elway will bring in someone who he is comfortable with who won't really rock the boat or necessarily provide anything more than a buffer for Elway. I hope he brings in a strong voice and a fresh perspective... I will reserve judgment - for now I think this is a positive.
Classy move , Duke of Denver!
