Bash away, but is KC that talented top to bottom where their FO deserves a bunch of love...or is Mahomes just that good?

I may be crazy but they are a good team...who happens to have Mahomes

Surprising, but I'm glad he is giving up the GM spot while remaining a part of the organization.

ugh. . . new blood could prove to be exactly what this franchise needs, but this is wretched timing, IMO. . . this just increases even further the odds for more turnover and turmoil. . . i would have been SO much happier if JFE would've held off until the ownership situation gets resolved, which looks like it's going to be fairly soon with the league upping the pressure. . . now, we hire a new GM for '21-- and if denver doesn't make a deep playoff run, he'll inevitably want to replace fangio, shurmur and lock with "his own guys" in '22. . . and if the new owner isn't in place by then, what are the odds that the entire stupid spin cycle will promptly begin yet again the moment that ownership group does take over? guess we all need to cross our fingers and hope we luck into a justin herbert type at QB, who doesn't require much development, because that might be the only factor that can bring some desperately needed stability to this franchise. . .

i'm really hoping they hire adam peters-- he would've been my top choice anyway, and his name is already being mentioned. . . rick smith, OTOH, would be a f***ing disaster. . . that guy is the case keenum of NFL execs. . . it isn't clear whether schneider in seattle is available or not, but he'd be another name i'd be interested in. . .

“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

and the best offense mind of the last three decades, and a ton of continuity. . .

On the other hand, someone from a winning culture who wants to stick it to his old team might be a good way to go.

I think this is great news. I hope we get a youngish innovator that turns out to be a great GM. Don't hire someone that has already failed as a GM please.

I find Mike Borgonzi most intriguing. Also intrigued by Dodds' body of work in Indy and Seattle.

The only former GM I can think of I'd hire in a heartbeat is Pioli.

Is Mahomes all that without those weapons? Double edged sword. The answer to all the questions is "yes".

Gotcha - many here consider it an insult. Glad you clarified, because you don't reach the level of success he (and others) had without having an ego.

a first-timer with an experienced hand (pioli, john dorsey, thomas demitroff, scott mccloughan) as his second fiddle would be a solid approach. . .

This plus the Vic tweets above seem to pretty much confirm what's been rumoured for the last few years that Elway's heart wasn't totally into the day to day grind of being a GM anymore.

Elway asked if he'd be making his move if the Broncos finished 13-3.

"Probably....I've been thinking about this for a couple years".

Asked Elway what qualities he'll be looking for in a new GM:

"It's different game today. Staffs are much bigger. A lot more management required"

Hats off to John Elway for owning it up. I appreciate it. Keep Elway in Broncos Organization.

John Elway will hire the GM with input from Fangio and Ellis. Fangio is not hiring the GM.
