Default 'You have to have guys that show fire': Bradley Chubb, Noah Fant motivated to channel frustration into results

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — As the Chiefs extended their lead to 37-9 with a 10-yard touchdown pass to Tyreek Hill, Bradley Chubb expressed his displeasure.

According to a report on the CBS broadcast, Chubb was heated as he headed to the sideline and yelled in the direction of his teammates.

"I think that's a good thing," CBS commentator Jay Feely said on the broadcast. "You have to have guys that show fire, that are ticked off, that aren't going to accept mediocrity and not playing well. That's what leadership is about."

Chubb confirmed Tuesday that the momentary frustration was a display of passion and showed how much he cared for this team. And as a third-year player who is already a leader of the team, Chubb believes it's his responsibility — and his teammates' responsibility — to hold each other accountable.

The #1 problem with the way Fangio runs this team is that there are no captains. I think that’s ridiculously stupid. They pick new captains each week. Nobody wears the “C”. It’s like everyone gets a trophy and gets to be the man for the day or some shit. This is a time when team leadership (ie captains) should be getting in the faces of their teammates and motivating, coaching, encouraging, and yes, chewing some ass as necessary. Every other team in the league has captains. We don’t. Players look to captains and captains are typically the guys the coaches can lean on to talk to players who aren’t living up to standards without making it seem like they’re in trouble with the boss. Peer to peer coaching like that has a huge effect. No the “C” doesn’t give them special powers, but it does add just a little more of an identifier and badge of trust that the coaches and ownership expect me to lead this team, all the time, not just when it’s convenient.

I disagree with Jaded here. I think we need more vocal leadership on a young team. Especially if he’s getting in the face of vets like Gordon who are turning the ball over due to carelessness.

This isn't true. The Ravens, Bears, Browns, Cowboys, and Chiefs also don't name permanent captains. Given that two of those are two of the best franchises in the league right now, I'm not really sure you can use that to correlate a team playing well. Having a patch on your jersey shouldn't impact of veteran players take leadership roles or not.

Remember when Jay Cutler wore the Captain "C"?

When I was looking this up, literally every single team that names captains has a QB as a captain. Haskins is a captain in washington. Taylor is a captain in LA. Fitzpatrick is a captain in Miami. It just doesn't mean anything.

The Locker room of SB 50 defense was a meat grinder, all kinds of vocal leadership, it ruined the offenses slim chances of being competent.

I’m not saying the players should never Act out, just that now is not the time.

Your annual reminder that yelling and screaming does not equate to leadership or passion.

I am 100% ok with expressing disappointment and demanding better results. Then move on.
