    Default So...muscle is bad now?

I have no idea why the authors felt justified in using the sub-title:
Could too much resilience be a bad thing, just like too much muscle mass can be a bad thing?
As far as I can tell, there is no 'bad thing' about too much muscle mass, and only very good things. It's just weird. Thoughts?

If you have muscle mass at a certain excess your heart cannot support your body properly. And your frame will start to break down. So yes, in some instances it would be a bad thing.

But it takes a lot to get that big....and I would imagine to get that big, for a long enough time to really **** yourself over, there's probably some abuse of substances or something.

And that's a different path so to speak.

But I get their respective point.

So you've got nothing basically? Roids=bad? That's all I parse from your defense.

I'm kinda serious about this. What's the drawback to muscle mass--natural muscle mass (which should be implied).

The reason I'm kinda serious is because I feel burning angers at the assumed premise that is insidiously outlandish yet unchallenged, but persists and shapes thought. Wrongly.

Yeah, the metaphor is fine--I get what they are after and that's not any kind of issue. It's whether too much muscle mass is actually a thing that has been shown to be deleterious to health. No roids, no confounding factors.

The point on 'roids was tangential and hinting at how one bad thing can stem from another. I wasn't clear. Apologies.

Bodybuilders have suffered because of their craft, even naturally done.

Imagine putting too much muscle on a frame too small to hold it. When even ten pounds of excess weight can be bad for your knees and joints, what happens over a prolonged period of time to your heart because of that extra weight?

Now I'm going down the rabbit hole.

Too much muscle mass for what? Too much muscle might be bad for a jockey. Too much muscle mass might be bad for a runner. Tebow dropped some muscle mass at one point in his QB career because he was too big. All of these things would be case by case. I'm just thinking generally.

But no, you can't be too resilient.

What the article describes as being too tough, basically, never quitting on something that's basically impossible, or keeping boring jobs, that's assuming an efficient life is mandatory/always a good thing. It also doesn't take into account that life is meaningless anyway, so who fcking cares.

Yeah, I'm not quite sure the point either.

But I'd like to confirm the value of building muscle.

The too much muscle thing, well, Aristotle moderation might prevail, but I'd like to see some evidence. That's all. Just some evidence please that going Jack Lalanne is actually actively harmful.

    I liked the thread, though.

People are too fit these days IMO.

And what's the deal with people falling for those pyramid schemes where people sell miracle weight loss drinks that, somehow, magically make you lose weight without you having to work out at all. There's zero chance that's healthy.

Hawg won't yell at you/be super blunt to you because you are beloved.

    But he beats me up.

But not like the weightdrainer shake. If you starting selling some we'll all be rich!
