I think my point, in general, is that Elway’s first season should never be used to say anyone can get better. Anyone just isn’t Elway. I completely understand why Broncos fans reach for that season, but it’s just so not comparable to just about any prospect, except maybe Manning’s rookie year when he threw all the INTs. He was also an otherworldly prospect.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

I agree that only a rare few can be Elway or Manning, but that's not what we're asking of Rypien, we're only asking him to be Kubiak when he was Elway backup.

FTR I didn't 'turn' on Lock. He can't play if he's hurt. He needs to really showout if he's to be the long-term answer at QB. He needs to make better decisions, this will happen the more exp he gets. I love his ability and his leadership, but he has to be on the Field.

Like any other player he isn't above criticism. I was pressing for Lock way before the Draft when Case was playing in November.

And I never said Rypien was some Godly QB. A really cheap backup insurance policy is priceless. That's what he is. He's done about as well as anyone could expect.
